Disneyland's Avengers Campus has released photos of its cast members' uniforms. Disneyland, located in Anaheim, CA, opened in 1955 and was the only Disney theme park whose construction was overseen by Walt Disney himself. The Disneyland Resort includes two theme parks, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, which opened in 2001. The parks include well-known rides seen at the Walt Disney Resort in Florida, like It's A Small World, Space Mountain, and Jungle Cruise, while also featuring attractions exclusive to the Disneyland Resort, like the Incredicoaster on Pixar Pier, Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and Indiana Jones Adventure. The parks reopened on April 30, 2021, after closing for over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Disneyland's Avengers Campus is set to open on June 4 in Disney California Adventure. The Marvel-themed land will be built around the preexistent Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! While the area of the park already features meet-and-greets with Marvel characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, and Loki, Avengers Campus will bring in new attractions, dining options, and interactive opportunities. The land's feature attraction will be WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, where guests will join Spider-Man in destroying a squadron of rogue Spider-Bots. Avengers Campus' premiere dining location will be Pym Test Kitchen, an innovative eatery themed after the Ant-Man franchise.
Yesterday, Disney Parks revealed the uniforms for its cast members who will be stationed in Avengers Campus. Inspired by all different superheroes from the Marvel franchise, these unique uniforms were designed by Joe Kucharski, Disney Live Entertainment's Sr. Costume Designer. Kucharski collaborated with both Walt Disney Imagineering and Marvel Studios on the designs. Read what Kucharkski said about the uniforms and check out the photos from Collider below:
I was inspired by the immersive design of Avengers Campus and the unique stories at each address. Our cast members play a unique part in the guest experience and these costumes are designed to help them embody their role in this epic story.
Disneyland Resort's millions of guests have been extremely disappointed due to the parks' extended closure, especially those who held the now-defunct Annual Passports. However, the announcement of Avengers Campus' launch has come at the perfect time, giving guests the ability to explore new attractions in the park as well as the ones they missed. because Disneyland Resort is currently open to only California residents, the smaller guest pool and limited capacity will allow Avengers fans to experience everything the land has to offer with limited wait times. Avengers Campus will also appeal to those who have spent their quarantine binging Marvel TV shows like WandaVision and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier on Disney+.
At the time of Disney California Adventure's opening in 2001, the park – designed as an homage to the state of California– lacked significant draw in its overall theme and attractions. However, with the re-theming of Paradise Pier as Pixar Pier and the addition of Cars Land, the park has captured a target audience and successfully redeemed itself – the addition of Avengers Campus will be no exception. After Disney's acquisition of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the company has unlocked a viable demographic of young-adult fans; while the attractions at Avengers Campus will be geared toward training a younger generation of superheroes, there is sure to be something for guests of all ages. Avengers Campus is likely to be success when it opens this June.
