Elizabeth Olsen Excited For Reaction To WandaVision In Doctor Strange 2

Elizabeth Olsen is excited for everyone to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, particularly for fans' reaction to its connection with WandaVision. Marvel Studios' inaugural Disney+ series put the focus on Wanda and her traumas on the heels of losing Vision in Avengers: Infinity War. Instead of the usual MCU fare, however, the show took a unique storytelling approach by incorporating sitcom elements in it.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was officially announced during Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 where WandaVision was also announced. Aside from the narrative connection between the Phase 4 projects, MCU architect, Kevin Feige, also revealed that Wanda Maximoff will appear in the Benedict Cumberbatch-led sequel. Because of this, there were assumptions that the future Sorcerer Supreme will appear in the Disney+ series; that didn't happen, although there were previous plans for this that were ultimately scrapped. Now, the pair's proper meeting is coming on the big screen instead.

Speaking with Glamour Spain (via Explica), Olsen teases what can be expected from the Sam Raimi-directed blockbuster due to release in 2022. While the actress understandably can't get into spoiler territory, she expresses her excitement for the WandaVision part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, saying:

Every Marvel movie is unique and this one is sure to surprise fans. I can’t wait to see your reaction, especially when it comes to the WandaVision part.

Although WandaVision was positively received overall, the lack of a big MCU cameo, especially during its final episodes didn't sit well with some. The series was expected to be the franchise-shaking event that would lead to the further exploration of the multiverse in Phase 4. But in the end, it was a character-driven show that stayed true to its core narrative until the very end. Doctor Strange was indirectly mentioned, however, despite not appearing, with Agatha Harkness revealing that Scarlet Witch is more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme. The post-credits scene is also set to factor in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Wanda further studied the Darkhold, unknowingly teaching herself dark magic.

It's currently uncertain how exactly Doctor Strange and Wanda's paths will cross in the upcoming MCU blockbuster. But since the Masters of the Mystic Arts are tasked to protect Earth from mystical threats, it's possible that the sorcerer seeks Scarlet Witch himself to educate her about the Darkhold. From there, it will be interesting to see what their dynamic will be, especially since Wanda would be motivated to reach out to her kids who were in distress in the WandaVision stinger. This could mean that they have a more contentious relationship at the start of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which can eventually become an alliance.
