George Clooney Pokes Fun At Batman Nipple Costume In New Ad

In a new ad, George Clooney pokes fun at his Batman nipple costume from Batman & Robin. Clooney first gained widespread recognition in 1994 as a heartthrob on the medical drama series, ER. During his time on the show, he began attracting interest as a leading man in a variety of films, including his breakthrough role in From Dusk till Dawn. In 2001, Clooney’s stock exploded with his role in Steven Soderbergh's Ocean’s Eleven. Since then, Clooney’s name has been synonymous with a suave and cool-headed movie star.

Though one of Clooney’s more questionable roles was as Batman alongside Chris O’Donnell’s Robin in Joel Schumacher’s notorious Batman & Robin, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger’s farcical Mr. Freeze. As the film now frequently appears on "worst of all time" lists, Clooney even feared it would put an end to the Batman franchise that began in 1939. He also called the project “a waste of money,” which taught him the important lesson to be more selective with the films he chooses to star in. Batman & Robin famously featured nipples on Clooney’s Batsuit, or Batnipples as they have aptly been dubbed.

Now, in an ad for Omaze supporting Clooney’s Foundation For Justice, the actor can add world's worst pandemic roommate to his resume of roles. In the 4-minute sketch, Clooney buys an action figure from Craigslist, but when he goes to pick it up, the stay-at-home order is enacted, and Clooney ends up spending the entire pandemic with a complete stranger named Byron. The merchandise in question is a Batman action figure, although “it's not the one with the nipples,” Clooney says. The rest of his hilarious quarantine antics, including him fanboying over Brad Pitt and repeatedly watching Ocean’s Eleven, can be seen below:

The bit was produced to raise awareness of a contest in which the winner will be flown to Lake Como, Italy to celebrate with Clooney and his wife, Amal, as soon as the pandemic is over. Every donation made will go to support Clooney’s Foundation For Justice, which advocates for justice through accountability for human rights abuse around the world. The foundation believes that justice for those unfairly targeted by oppressive governments is obtained by fighting for their rights through the courts.

After all these years, it is nice to see Clooney still poking fun at the infamous Batnipples from the much-maligned Batman & Robin, a film which has probably caused him a lot of grief over the years. Though, Clooney was right about the lesson he learned from this failure. Since Batman & Robin, Clooney has put together an unparalleled film career as an actor, producer, writer, and director.
