Marvel's Kraven is Hunting Down The MCU's Deadliest Beast

In a preview of Marvel Comics' The Mighty Valkyries, Kraven the Hunter will be hunting the children of the MCU's deadliest beast. The new Marvel series is quite unique, depicting two stories featuring two different Valkyries in the Marvel Universe, the first being Jane Foster and the second being the newly named Rúna, based on Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie first seen in Thor: Ragnarok. However, Rúna isn't the only one from the third Thor film being featured. The children of Fenris, Hela's world-eating wolf, have been set loose upon the Marvel Universe, and it seems as though the Goddess of Death has hired Kraven to bring them back to Hel.

In the first issue of The Mighty Valkyries from writers Jason Aaron and Torunn Grønbekk with artists Mattia De Iulis and Erica D'Urso, Jane Foster was seen protecting Loki from his grandchildren (Fenris is Loki's son). However, the former God of Mischief was only being hunted by one wolf before he escaped, leaving Jane to face the beast alone. This is because the Managarmr (or Moon-Wolf) is actually two souls within one body (Hati and Skoll). However, the Norse beast takes a human form and asks Jane to simply call him "More".

Now, The Mighty Valkyries will continue More's conversation with Jane, as there's clearly something deeper going on. Furthermore, the preview for the issue confirms that the hunter Hela has procured is none other than the classic Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter to bring them back. Kraven is always on the lookout for the biggest and rarest game, and who better to hunt than a giant wolf from Norse mythology? Meanwhile, it looks as though Rúna's adventure in space will continue as well, seeing her breaking out another Norse being from captivity. Here's the synopsis and preview pages for the issue:

  • THE MIGHTY VALKYRIES #2
  • THE MYSTERY OF THE NEWEST VALKYRIE UNFOLDS!
  • The biggest new addition to the Marvel Universe finally fulfills a promise years in the making! On the planet of Perdita lives an ancient power - imprisoned. Leashed. Valkyrie goes to free it - and herself. And she must work quickly, for back on Midgard, Jane Foster has fallen into the sights of Kraven the Hunter! The killer stalks a beast from another plane, one whom Loki claims threatens the lives of every mortal. But there is more to this creature than meets the eye. Can the gaze of a Valkyrie reveal the secrets behind the wolf and his unearthly origin?

It certainly seems as though More is less malicious and more curious than anything else. The two of them together express a naiveté that seems to come from not getting out of Hel very often. However, it seems as though Jane Foster is definitely going to have her hands full, especially when Kraven shows up to drag More back to Hela. Clearly, there's more going on with More than Jane yet knows.

In any case, it looks as though Rúna's journey will continue onwards as well, with the preview seeing her breaking out the All-Knowing Kvasir from his imprisonment as a galactic oracle for tourists. While it's as of yet uncertain how and when the two mighty Valkyries' paths will cross one can imagine that it will be soon, regardless of what happens with Kraven.
