After six seasons of Jazzagal rehearsals, sibling rivalries between David and Alexis, and motel woes, Schitt's Creek ended on its own terms after wrapping up the main characters' journeys. Johnny and Moira were heading off California, Alexis was traveling to the Big Apple, and David was staying put in Schitt's Creek with his store and husband. Each character had their own happy ending.
The finale, however, had mixed reviews from fans. Some loved how each member of the family was splitting up to chase their passions, while others thought the Roses were selling out and retreating to the previous lives that once made them so unhappy. Instead of accepting the ending as is, Schitt's Creek fans took to Reddit to share their own alternate endings.
8 Rosebud Motel Is Headquartered In Schitt's Creek, Not New York City
At the end of Schitt’s Creek, Johnny was originally heading to New York City to set up Rosebud Motel’s headquarters. Stevie — not much of a city girl — planned on staying back in Schitt’s Creek to run and perfect the original Rosebud Motel.
Instead of that ending, one fan wished the writers made Schitt’s Creek home of the motel’s headquarters. Why New York? The Roses would buy a home in Schitt's Creek as a way to remain close to the city, the headquarters, and their son. This would have made Schitt’s Creek the fifth character of sorts and the family would always have a home there.
7 Schitt's Creek Becomes A Quirky Travel Destination
As rundown as the Roses made Schitt’s Creek seem, it really was a lovely place to have a family and gain a sense of community. In this alternate ending, Alexis would use her new public relations career to bring more opportunities to the town.
With David and Patrick still in Schitt’s Creek, Rose Apothecary blossoms into a success when more and more people come to visit the town. Alexis’ Single Week becomes an annual event, as does an annual movie premiere party held by Moira.
6 Ted & Alexis End Up Together In New York
Fans are torn on Alexis’ ending. Some loved the fact that Alexis didn’t need a man to succeed and was starting her new life single and independent. Others, however, loved Alexis and Ted so much, they wish they wish there was another option.
As an alternate ending, it would have been wonderful for Ted and Alexis fans if Ted traveled to New York City for a vet convention where he and Alexis would catch up. They would pick up where they left off, get engaged, and reside in New York where they both thrive. A cherry on top would be if the couple rescued a dog named Mutt.
5 David Takes Over For Roland As Mayor
No one knew what to think of Rose Apothecary when David came up with the idea, but it soon became a town favorite with its local goods and familiar faces. Due to the quirkiness of the town and shops like Rose Apothecary, Patrick and David were on to something big. Just as David was able to show his talents at the store, he could have done the same for the town.
Another fantastic ending would be if Roland stepped down as mayor and David took his spot. Just as David was able to get the town to see the magic in his store, he’d be able to do the same thing for the town.
4 Patrick Wasn't Able To Handle David's Happy Ending
In the series finale, Patrick set David up with a message to calm his pre-wedding jitters. David appreciated the gesture, but was surprised when the massage ended with a "happy ending." When Patrick got home and found out about the mishap, he was shocked that something of that level could happen on their wedding day. Instead of being upset over it, he let it go and chalked it up to a miscommunication. However, some fans didn’t buy Patrick’s cavalier response to the entire ordeal.
An alternate ending would be that if Patrick handled the situation with disgust, sadness, and anger and halted the wedding as he dealt with his feelings. Instead, the entire situation was played as a joke, which didn’t sit right with some fans.
3 Are Alexis And Stevie Endgame?
The morning after Patrick and David’s wedding, everyone was hungover as they said their goodbyes to Moira and Johnny. Both Stevie and Alexis claimed that they didn’t sleep at all while looking disheveled.
One fan suspected that two women spent the night together based on their coy reactions. And while fans will most likely never find out if their rendezvous was true or not, it would make a very interesting alternate ending for Stevie and Alexis. Maybe they couldn’t find Mr. Right because their potential partner was there all along.
2 10 Years Later Into The Life Of The Roses
Instead of the show ending with everyone saying goodbye after David and Patrick’s wedding, fans on Reddit wished the series did a fast-forward into the future.
Seeing where the Roses ended up 10 years after Schitt’s Creek would have been rewarding. Instead of wondering where all their lives ended up, they would find out for themselves before the series wrapped up for good.
1 Instead Of Sunrise Bay, Moira Becomes A Director
Some fans didn’t quite understand why Moira was so excited for Sunrise Bay after it was such a train wreck of a show that fired her. Why would Moira want that toxicity back in her life after detoxing from all the phoniness in Hollywood and New York?
Instead, maybe Moira should have focused her talents on directing or producing. Her time with the Jazzagals was both rewarding and educational. She came alive in those moments and had far more potential being behind the camera in front of the camera. Instead of starring on Sunrise Bay, Moira should have directed.
