Storage Wars: What Dan & Laura Dotson Were Up To Before Season 13

The stars of Storage Wars season 13 are entertaining us again and we've found out what married auctioneers Dan and Laura Dotson were doing before the new season aired. Right now, they're appearing on a popular A&E show that's getting even more buzz than usual. The show has been making headlines since news of Brandi Passante and Jarrod Schulz's breakup surfaced. Everyone is wondering what happened to Brandi and Jarrod's relationship. While the drama may be overshadowing Dan and Laura, they are popular for good reason. Both bring a lot of authenticity and charm to the series. In particular, Laura's warm and smiley personality is hard to resist. Her friendly spirit is like a ray of sunshine that is delightfully at odds with the cutthroat business of digging through dirty storage lockers to find the most valuable hidden treasures (and outearn the competition).

Auctioneer Dan Dotson is 58 and his wife Laura (often the Storage Wars ring-woman) is 52. They own American Auctioneers in Riverside, California. This company runs live and online auctions. They also own a self-storage auctioning system called Storageauctions.net. The couple has appeared on Storage Wars since season one, but they did have a hiatus. They didn't return for season 10 and they think that they weren't asked back due to the show's budget issues at that time. According to Dan, Laura is slightly "psychic," as per Sparefoot, and she actually predicted how she and Dan would get on Storage Wars in the first place. Dan and Laura are a perfect match because both of them come from auctioneering families. When Dan was just eleven years of age, his grandfather began to teach him the art of auctioneering. Laura's dad was a mechanic who enjoyed auctions.

Many Storage Wars fans are already aware that Dan had a double aneurysm in 2014. His wife used CPR to save his life. A five-hour operation was needed to repair the damage, but he recovered. For a while, he didn't think it would be possible to auctioneer again, so his appearance in the current season is an important milestone for him. Don was anxious to leave the intensive care unit after just two weeks, once he got "pants and permission," according to Columbia Neurosurgery. Laura now raises awareness about the importance of CPR. In 2020, Laura, and Barry Weiss were making the scene in Hollywood, as seen below:

Things are going well for the couple now, but they've had their moments on the show. Their legendary scrap with tormentor Dave Hester has gone down in Storage Wars history. Dave did not return for season 13. See Dave (who claimed the show was fake after getting fired) fight Dan and Laura in season 9 below, via A&E at YouTube:

Below, Dan and Laura promote their other business ventures via their own Dan and Laura Dotson YouTube channel. These two seasoned Storage Wars stars know how to use their joyful personalities and general lust for life to make plenty of cold, hard cash. As they like to say, "Don't forget to pay the lady!"

When they aren't working, they can be found cuddling their dogs, Louis and Jax. Tragedy struck Dan and Laura in September 2020, when their son Garrett Dotson was shot in the chest in Arizona. Garrett is doing well these days. He posts plenty of pics of hot cars, boats, and ski trips on his og_chedds Instagram, as seen below:

In every life, some rain must fall, but Dan and Laura handle stormy weather with total panache. They smile after even the most traumatic experiences, and then they come back stronger. This beloved Storage Wars duo seems like a match made in heaven, and they always reach for the stars. Fans are so glad that they're part of the season 13 action.
