Worst Cooks In America Season 22: Premiere Date & When New Episodes Air

Food Network's Worst Cooks In America is back with some familiar faces. Worst Cooks In America: Best of the Worst features fan-favorite recruits from previous seasons looking for redemption. Fans will have to tune in to see if these terrible chefs retained their cooking skills learned during their previous time in boot camp, or if they're back at square one. For the first time, Iron Chef Michael Symon from Cleveland will join Chef Anne Burrell as host and mentor to the cooks. The season premiered on Sunday, April 25.

While shows like Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen center around high-end chefs creating five-star meals, Worst Cooks In America has been the complete opposite. Some of the worst cooks around America join culinary boot camp and compete to become a culinary master. The show typically cast 12 to 16 recruits, but this season will only feature eight. The recruits are separated by teams and are asked to make fancy culinary dishes under the guidance of their mentors. In the end, there can only be one winner, who is awarded $25,000 and bragging rights for their mentor.

Chef Anne's Rockin' Red Stars and Chef Michael's Blue squad will go head-to-head Sunday nights at 9 PM ET/PT on Food Network. New episodes will be streaming on Discovery+ on the same day. This season will have six episodes and the finale will air on May 30. For die-hard fans who can't get enough of this hilarious series, check out the digital series, Extra Helping. Fans can meet the returning recruits and get exclusive cooking tips. Fans can also get a blast from the past and watch Chef Michael react to some of the worst dishes in Worst Cooks history by heading to FoodNetwork.com (via FoodNetwork).

The recruits featured in this season are as boisterous as the food they will try to create. They may be lacking in culinary skills, but they aren't lacking in personality. Courtney White, President of the Food Network, said these recruits will be some of the most hilarious and outrageous personalities to be featured on the franchise. Fans can also expect tougher challenges for the recruits to overcome. There will be a Vegas-themed game show, a camping cookout where stoves and ovens are off-limits, and a "tour de petit four" dessert relay.

For 22 seasons, different celebrity chefs have joined the show to represent the blue team. Chefs like Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, and Robert Irvine have made their marks on the show and brought different coaching techniques. Chef Michael Symon is new to boot camp, so it'll be interesting to see how he will handle some of the worst cooks in the country. Will he be helpful like Rachael Ray, quiet yet intimidating like Bobby Flay, or will he be straightforward and cutthroat like Alton Brown? Fans will have to tune in to see how he can mentor a group of catastrophic cooks.

Since its premiere in January 2010, Worst Cooks In America has developed a strong fan base and has shown no signs of slowing down. The show is not only entertaining to watch, but it also offers tips and tricks to upgrade anyone's cooking skills. It goes to show that anyone can transform from kitchen catastrophe to kitchen master.
