Bloodborne On PC Is PlayStation Now's Most-Played Game

Sony has revealed FromSoftware's Bloodborne is PlayStation Now's most-played game on PC for spring 2021. Despite first releasing in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, the game has gained popularity on computers via PS Now streaming. PS Now is a subscription service that allows gamers to stream a variety of PlayStation games to PC, as well as offering a back catalog of PlayStation hits on console.

PlayStation has released PC versions of a number of games that were previously console exclusives, such as Death Stranding, Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone. While lots of people want to see games like The Last of Us and God of War (2018) get their own dedicated PC ports, perhaps the most requested is Bloodborne, a "Soulsborne" game known for its brutal and unforgiving gameplay.

In a blog post, Sony revealed Bloodborne fans have been using PlayStation Now to stream the game to PC in lieu of a native PC version. According to the report, Bloodborne was PlayStation Now's most-played game on PC from March 1 to June 1, based on total hours played. Horizon Zero Dawn took second place on the list, while The Last of Us came in at third. Interestingly, the fourth most popular PS Now game on PC was the disappointing Marvel's Avengers, widely seen as a failure. While Sony didn’t give exact player numbers, Bloodborne scooping the top spot shows fans want to play it on PC in any way they can.

Recent rumors suggest both a PS5 and a PC version of Bloodborne are coming soon, though there's been no official word from Sony at this time. Bloodborne's success on PlayStation Now does demonstrate there is a thirst for the game on PC, but it could still continue to succeed on PS Now even if it does get a full PC release. Horizon Zero Dawn, PS Now's second most-played game on PC this spring, already got a full PC version in 2020. Seeing the game so high on PS Now's most-played list shows fans won’t necessarily choose a dedicated PC release over PS Now - though it's worth noting the PC release of Horizon Zero Dawn does have graphical issues.

Whether Bloodborne will ever get a native PC release is unclear, but it would likely only be a victory both for PlayStation and for PC players. It would also bring PC one step closer to a complete Soulsborne lineup, which is currently missing only Bloodborne and Demon's Souls.
