Entire MCU Timeline Broken Down Scene-By-Scene In Fan Made Spreadsheet

A fan-made MCU timeline has broken the entire Marvel franchise down to individual scenes and ordered them all in a series of incredibly complex and in-depth spreadsheets. Over the years since Iron Man was first released in theaters, the MCU has developed an increasingly complicated timeline, filled with prequels, spinoffs, time jumps, alternate dimensions, time travel, and far-off alien worlds. Thanks to the fans, audiences can now answer any question they may have about that timeline in excruciating detail.

The interconnectedness of the MCU has always been its calling card and its greatest asset as a franchise. Crossovers, cameos, and post-credits scenes have become the norm in Hollywood primarily because of the sweeping impact of Marvel Studios. For all the apparent overlap in MCU projects, however, there’s a lot that’s never been made official about the different movies and shows' relationship to one another, especially when it comes to the timeline.

All the lingering MCU timeline questions have now been (unofficially) answered by an exhaustive fan-made spreadsheet detailing the entire order of the franchise, one scene at a time. Created by Reddit user lux-in-flux, the document includes specific time stamps for when scenes begin and end, revealing things like which moments from Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2 – which all take place at the same time – happen first, second, and so on. There are also descriptions for each scene, explaining its relation to the others around it. Check out the timeline document for yourself here.

Marvel Studios made the MCU timeline more complicated in the wake of Avengers: Endgame, which included numerous time travel and retconning instances. The upcoming Disney+ series Loki, which premieres on June 9, will continue that trend of timestream hijinks. At the same time, other Phase 4 projects like Black Widow will take place entirely during much earlier parts of the franchise timeline. With so many flashbacks and overlapping stories, it makes sense why a gargantuan spreadsheet is necessary to make sense of everything.

Time travel will likely remain a key plot device in the MCU for the foreseeable future, as infamous comics villain Kang the Conqueror is set to appear in a significant future role. Kang is a time traveler in the original Marvel comics, will be the main villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and appears to be getting set up early in Loki. With Thanos gone, Kang could become one of the film franchise’s subsequent significant threats. If you need any help understanding how that could come together in the MCU, or if you have any other similar questions, please feel free to spend a few hours consulting the official (unofficial) timeline.
