Rick & Morty Wendy’s Drive-Thru Experience Shown In New TikTok

Insane Rick and Morty Wendy’s drive-thru experience revealed in new TikTok video. Season 5 of Adult Swim’s hugely popular animated comedy has arrived and episode 1 proved that Rick and Morty hasn’t lost its touch when it comes to delivering sci-fi thrills or edgy humor (or mockery of Marvel).

The release of a new season of Rick and Morty is of course a big deal to fans everywhere (especially considering the long wait period that sometimes comes between seasons). But the show also does have a pretty big cultural impact beyond the realm of geeked-out Adult Swim fans or devotees of animated TV in general. Indeed, Rick and Morty has widened its appeal in recent years through promotional tie-ins with various brands. The show has actually had a presence at the Super Bowl with its Pringle’s ads, and now it’s also hooked up with fast food chain Wendy’s for a series of promotions.

Rick and Morty’s relationship with Wendy’s actually goes beyond social media hi-jinks and traditional ads like last year’s commercial for the chain’s breakfast menu. Recently, a Panorama City, California Wendy’s has taken the tie-in to the next level, becoming the ultimate playground for Rick and Morty fans thanks to a pop-up installation transforming the restaurant into a “Morty’s.” TikTok user itsandreaae captured all the madness at the world’s only Morty’s restaurant, including the crazy drive-thru experience, after waiting six hours in line with other fanatics.

The beverage being shown off by the lucky Rick and Morty fans at the start of the clip is a “Pickle Rick Frosty,” in honor of one of the show’s most iconic episodes, in which Rick transformed himself into a pickle and became a miniature superhero. Other items featured on Morty’s Wubba Lubba Grub Grub menu include the Jerry’s Single Combo and the Mello Yello flavor Portal Time Lemon Lime. But the highlight of the pop-up installation featured in the video is the drive-thru itself, which has been transformed into a Willy Wonka-esque tunnel of terror featuring suitably bizarre Rick and Morty animations.

This of course is not the first time Rick and Morty has gotten involved in an elaborate tie-in with a restaurant chain. A few years ago, complete chaos ensued when a joke on the show about a certain long-discontinued McDonald’s McNugget dipping sauce caused the fast food outfit to bring the sauce back in certain locations, leading to actual stampedes by Rick and Morty fans. That tie-in was however not official, a fact Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon was happy to complain about. The Wendy’s relationship with Rick and Morty on the other hand is entirely official, and looks like it will be a long and fruitful one. Although, in truth, a “Pickle Rick Frosty” may sound disgusting to some, and the whole idea of waiting in line for six hours to visit a pop-up restaurant is arguably nuts.
