Why Jedi Fallen Order 2 Will Likely Be At EA Play Live

Fans of the popular action-adventure title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have been waiting for a sequel since the game's release in 2019, and while it seems all-but-guaranteed at this point, as of yet there's been no official confirmation on the state of a potential sequel's development. However, many fans are hoping that next month's EA Play Live presentation may bring with it a Jedi: Fallen Order 2 reveal.

EA skipped out on this year's E3 in favor of hosting EA Play Live once again, focusing on upcoming releases and progress updates in an independent presentation. Currently it's scheduled for July 22. As the date approaches, speculation is ramping up regarding which games might make an appearance this year. Multiple already-confirmed EA projects seem likely to receive new footage and possibly even release dates, but new upcoming titles are likely getting announced too.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a massive success, selling over 10 million copies by the end of  March 2020. In June of this year, a post on the official EA website confirmed that Jedi Fallen Order had over 20 million players. Since its initial release, Jedi: Fallen Order has also been continually updated, and just last week players were able to receive a free next-gen upgrade. Given that it's received so much continued attention, it seems more and more likely that more news regarding the game will be coming sooner rather than later.

An earnings call back in early 2020 revealed that Jedi: Fallen Order will be a franchise, and many fans of the game considered that confirmation that a sequel was already in the works. In late 2019, job listings posted by game developer Respawn Entertainment had already given players hope that a new Jedi: Fallen Order project was under development as well. Since then, however, there's been little news regarding a sequel - no teaser trailers or announcements have been made by EA, and their absence at the E3 Expo didn't leave any room for the game to make a surprise appearance.

Many of the titles that will most likely appear at EA Play Live 2021 have already been officially confirmed by the studio. Dragon Age 4, Skate 4, and even the recently-revealed Mass Effect 4 were announced previously in one form or another. Battlefield 2042 received a lot of attention at E3, and the latest Sims 4 expansion pack was previewed early this month with a July 22 release date. Because of this, many are uncertain which new projects EA will focus on during this year's EA Play Live - and a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order seems like a safe bet as far as candidates go. Even if development progress isn't shared at all, it's at least likely that the sequel will finally see real confirmation.
