10 Best Tweets & Reaction Memes For Kanye West's Donda Album Release

On Thursday, July 22, 2021, thousands of fans traveled to Atlanta to attend Kanye West’s listening party for his upcoming studio album, Donda. It’s been two years since West's last album, Jesus Is King, and fans have been dying to hear what West has been working on in secret. From acting to live-tweeting, there's nothing West can't accomplish.

Due to West's divorce from Kim Kardashian and recent admissions about his mental health, this album could be one of his most honest and authentic yet. However, those who attended the listening party in person — and listened via Apple’s Livestream — created some hilarious memes while waiting for the show to start (and for the album to drop). As always, West doesn’t do anything without theatrics, and his fans followed suit on Twitter

10 When Donda Doesn't Drop At Midnight

Fans waiting at Mercedes stadium in Atlanta were told the listening party would begin at 8 p.m. However, thanks to Ari Cagan’s own movie of sorts on YouTube, West didn’t take the stage until close to 10 p.m. Meanwhile, fans who weren’t on the Livestream or at the stadium were waiting for the release of Donda the following day, Friday, July 23, 2021. That never came, though. Some tweeted that they were up until midnight waiting for the release but there was radio silence. Variety noted that the album is now on hold until Aug. 6, 2021.

9 When The Release Of Donda Doesn't Happen

After Friday came and went, listeners on Spotify were left trying to figure out what was wrong and why Donda was not released. Was there another music app other than Spotify that fans were supposed to be glued to? What was the secret to unlocking Donda?

According to Yahoo News, Internet host Justin Laboy tweeted, “Kanye West will move the release date of Donda to August 6.” The host added, “He wants to give his fans the best possible product without rushing anything.”

8 The Drama Between Kim And Kanye Continues

After months of rumors and questionable tweets from West, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from her husband of seven years citing irreconcilable differences. She was filled with tears and regrets over her divorce on Keeping Up With The Kardashians — which was one of the saddest moments in the show— but would continue to support and love West as her friend and the father of their four children. To prove her point, Kardashian (and three of the couple's children) and her sister Khloe showed up for West's big night. Fans even noticed that West and Kardashian wore marching red outfits, proving their loyalty to each other.

Fans expect West, as an artist, to rap on Donda about the demise of his marriage. One lyric in particular brought West to his knees as it came over the speakers: “I’m losing all my family.” It’s hard to not be curious about what Kardashian thought during the performance.

7 Kanye Hasn't Changed In Over A Decade

In West's 2007 track “Stronger,” he raps the lyrics, “You should be honored by my lateness,” which totally matches the personality that he exudes.

It’s been 14 years since “Stronger” was released, and it looks like West still stands by his lyrics considering he showed up almost two hours late to his own album release party (even though he was living at the venue), then postponed the release date of Donda. Given the hype around the album and the drama surrounding West's personal life, it's surprising there's not a music documentary surrounding the release.

6 Blame Mr. Peanut

It's not just fans who want Donda to be released; it's companies like Planters too. Planters mascot Mr. Peanut even jumped in on the fun and added a comic of himself dropping his own verse for Donda. Perhaps the reason why Kanye's album is late is because of Mr. Peanut's mysterious verse that's just a few days too late. Perhaps this duo could had their names to the best musical composers of all time.

5 Jay-Z And Kanye Are Back

In 2016, West alluded to a rift with his former best friend and musical partner, Jay-Z. He made comments about Jay-Z’s absence in his life after Kardashian was robbed in Paris, and their friendship went downhill from there.

Jay-Z fired back in 2017 with his own diss tracks, and the two took some time apart. According to High Snobiety, things started looking up for them in 2019but not much has been said about their friendship since then. Shockingly, Jay-Z appears on the Donda track “Throne,” which has excited fans. But is it a coincidence that Jay-Z and West are suddenly on good terms now that West is divorced from Kardashian? Some fans think so.

4 'Ye Runs On Kanye Time

Kanye West has been quiet on social media for quite some time as he tried to hurry his album. However, he revealed on Instagram that he has been living at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as a way to focus solely on his album and not worry about anything else. Due to his dedication to his work, it would have made a great visual album. This meme pokes fun at West basically living at the same place he’s performing while also being late both physically and with the album’s release.

3 The Coincidence Between The Divorce & Kanye's Friendship

While there appears to be a bunch of reasons that lead to the demise of West and Jay-Z‘s friendship, some fans and haters put the blame on his marriage to Kim Kardashian. Complex had a source that noted that West was upset with Jay-Z because Jay's wife Beyoncé and Kardashian didn’t have a closer relationship. He wanted Jay to encourage a friendship between their wives, but it wasn’t “organic.”

According to Complex, the two women were far too different to ever get along or have a friendship, which bothered West and Kardashian. But now that they're divorcing, perhaps a better relationship between West, Jay-Z and Beyoncé is now possible.

2 A Bag Of Air For $3,000+? What A Steal!

Vlogger Ari Cagan posts everything on his YouTube page from hacks to experiences, and he proved on his page that fans were buying merchandise from the listening party and selling them online for more money than they bought them for.

Fans even realized that there were some audience members selling bags of air from the concert online. There are now countless memes of bags of air from the Donda listening party, because people will do anything to make a profit from this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

1 Kanye X Slender Man

Compared to other concerts or listening parties of West's, this one for Donda was unique. Instead of all the normal theatrics, West kept things simple with a white stage while he dressed in an all-red outfit. The jacket he wore appeared to be a red version of the blue-and-black puffer jackets he’s now selling in a collaboration with Gap. He also wore a nude face mask that covered his entire head. However, with an all-white stage and darkness behind him, West's all red-figure looked like a modern-day version of Slender Man, albeit more stylish.
