There are many noteworthy RPGs across the PC and console spectrums, and it seems like isometric RPGs in particular have received a lot of attention from studios in recent years. With so many recent releases to choose from, it can be difficult to find the most interesting ones to play. Here are a few of the most noteworthy isometric RPGs from the last few years.

It's remained a mainstay of the industry, with multiple fresh takes on the established formula popping up on a regular basis.
Made by Obsidian Entertainment, Pillars of Eternity - as well as its 2018 sequel - was developed as a spiritual successor to iconic series such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. The game was well-received for its strategic combat, immersive writing, and compelling companion characters. Additionally, the game helped play a large role in kickstarting the recent revival of similar isometric RPGs, releasing on PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
Hades is more action-oriented than some similar titles may be, but the controller-friendly, roguelike dungeon-crawler still draws heavy inspiration from traditional isometric RPGs. As one of the more recent titles listed here (it came out for early access in 2018 and had an official release in 2020, to be followed by additional console releases this August), it's worth trying for any long-time fans of the genre. Tyranny is another game developed by Obsidian Entertainment, and features gameplay similar to that of the Pillars of Eternity titles. The game is unique due to the fact that players start out as a villain, a high-ranking member in the power structure of an evil overlord who has already conquered the world. Player decisions within Tyranny have particularly heavy influence due to how much power the player character possesses. It's available on PC.
As its name might imply, Pathfinder: Kingmaker is set in the Pathfinder universe and was inspired heavily by other computer RPGs like Neverwinter Nights. Realm-building plays a large role, and character customization is given heavy influence thanks to Pathfinder: Kingmaker's kingdom-building aspects and alignment system. It's available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Unlike many other similar titles, Disco Elysium features no combat, and instead resolves events through the use of skill checks and dialogue trees. This, along with a truly unique art style and Disco Elysium's dice rolls and other tabletop elements, helped the game grow quickly in popularity following its 2019 release. It's since been expanded with a full Disco Elysium: The Final Cut package, which includes fully voiced dialogue and new quests. The option for players to support or suppress personality traits of the protagonist is notable, as are the game's unique setting, tone, and exceptional writing, all of which arguably boost Disco Elysium to the position of one of the most notable recent isometric RPGs. It's currently available on PC and a variety of consoles, with future console versions coming in 2021.
