Heels star Stephen Amell explains why he hasn’t seen finished episodes of the upcoming wrestling drama. Set to premiere in August, Heels unfolds in a close-knit Georgia community and revolves around the world of small-town professional wrestling. The series, which is created by Ricky and Morty and Loki writer Michael Waldron, with Mike O’Malley serving as showrunner, particularly focuses on a family-owned wrestling promotion and the two brothers (played by Amell and Vikings star Alexander Ludwig) who battle over their late father’s legacy.
Heels has already revealed a teaser trailer, alongside a glimpse of what Amell’s wrestling gear will look like. But, in a new video, posted to Amell’s Instagram account, the actor tries on his character’s accent. He also confesses he has yet to see completed episodes of the drama because O'Malley wants the actor to watch the finished product with him. You can check out Amell's video below.

Although a lot of the focus has gone to Amell, given the actor’s own affinity for wrestling and considering it’s his first major role since Arrow came to an end, Heels boasts a large ensemble cast. In addition to the two lead siblings played by Amell and Ludwig, Heels also stars Chris Bauer (True Blood), Alison Luff (New Amsterdam), Mary McCormack (The West Wing), Kelli Berglund (Now Apocalypse), Allen Maldonado (Black-ish), and JAG’s David James Elliott in the role of the brothers' father. Heels has teased cameos from real wrestlers as well, including CM Punk, who will be playing against type in a memorable guest stint. Viewers, and Amell himself, won’t have to wait too much longer to see for the debut episode, as Heels will arrive to Starz on Sunday, August 15.
