How To Search For TikTok Filters | Screen Rant

The TikTok app is chock-full of awesome filters — and new ones can be found just by doing a quick in-app search. While there are many ways to edit a TikTok video, applying a filter/effect is the best (and easiest) method. It gives that video a unique look, applying a filter takes just a matter of seconds, and it can completely change the vibe of the video being uploaded. Some filters are funny, some are scary, etc.

It's a good thing there are so many filters and effects to choose from, because trying to stand out on TikTok isn't always easy. It's estimated that the app has over 100 million active monthly users in the United States alone, meaning there are a lot of people vying for viewers' attention and eyeballs. Using a cool filter/effect isn't a guarantee a video will do well, but it can certainly help.

TikTok doesn't make it immediately apparent how to find new filters, but thankfully, it's explained better on the company's support site. After opening the TikTok app, tap the 'Discover' button on the bottom of the screen, tap the search bar at the top, and then search for a filter. If someone searches 'Cat filter,' the top results are for any matching effects — such as Cat Face, Princess Cat, Cat Vision, etc. To see more filters/effects like this, tap the 'See more' button. Tapping on a filter/effect takes users to a page of videos using it. From there, they can tap 'Add to Favorites' to find it later, or tap the record button on the bottom of the screen to start recording a video with that selected filter.

Searching for TikTok filters is easy enough, but what are some good ones to get started? One of the most popular ones is Green Screen. This allows people to instantly replace their background with a photo of their choosing, with TikTok still showing a cutout of the person recording. As the name suggests, it's just like someone is standing in front of a green screen — no editing/special effects experience required. Another fun filter/effect is the Inverted one, which inverts the entire video as if someone is looking through a mirror.

Other notable TikTok filters and effects include Color Customzier (change the saturation and hue of a video), Old Face (see what someone looks like with wrinkles and gray hair), and Time Warp (constantly moving line that gradually freezes the video, resulting in often hilarious results). All of these can be found just by searching for them as described above, as can countless others. Get creative, have fun, and get to making tons of filter and effect-filled TikToks!
