Zac Efron has won his first Emmy Award for his work on the Netflix travel series Down to Earth, where he travels worldwide in search of sustainable ways to live alongside wellness expert Darin Olien. Efron was nominated for a 2021 Daytime Emmy, his first nod and win overall. He took home a golden statuette in the Outstanding Daytime Program Host category in the fiction and lifestyle fields.
Efron took to Twitter to celebrate the accomplishment and share his gratitude towards viewers and the hardworking cast and crew of the travel series.

Efron's fellow nominees included Carly Ciarrocchi and Charlie Engelman for Weird but True!, Jeff Corwin Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Erica Hill, and Van Jones for CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall, and Brandon McMillan Lucky Dog with Brandon McMillan. Down to Earth was also nominated for Outstanding Travel, Adventure, and Nature Program but lost to Tiny Creatures, a Netflix series.
During its first season, Down to Earth traveled to Iceland, France, Costa Rica, Sardinia, Lima, Puerto Rico, London, and Iquitos, where Efron experienced life-changing events such as experiencing the Amazon Rainforest for the first time, sandboarding and beekeeping.
Down to Earth is currently in production on its second season. This season will film exclusively in Australia, where Efron will visit beautiful locales and seek out sustainable practices in educational and enlightening ways. The adventurous documentary travelogue will follow the men as they experience local customs and cuisine, spiritual experiences, and unique, sustainable living practices. Down to Earth is set to premiere its second season on Netflix sometime in 2022.
