5 Biggest Front-Runners In Big Brother 23 (So Far) | ScreenRant

At the time of writing, 12 Big Brother houseguests remain in season 23, with the first four having already been voted out. But as any fan of the long-running reality competition series knows, the show's mantra is to "expect the unexpected," so anything can happen. One twist that could possibly return this season, even if it's a Big Brother twist fans think should stay away, is the Battle Back competition. This allows a player who was previously voted out to return for the chance to win. Bottom line: don't count anyone out just yet, including those who have already been sent home.

With this season's prize being the biggest ever, at $750,000, the competition is fierce, with several alliances already having been formed. Several front-runners to win have also emerged.

5 Christian Birkenberger

Christian has proven himself to be a fierce competitor, winning competitions for both Veto and HoH. He is also in a showmance, which typically puts a target on a player's back. But considering there have been a few showmances from Big Brother with good gameplay, this also gives him protection, because he has a guaranteed vote to stay from Alyssa, no matter what.

Competition beasts tend to do well on the series because even if others want to get them out, they are conflicted about sending them home. On the one hand, if the person is in someone's alliance, they don't want to get rid of them, as they can do the hard work to keep them safe. Also, if the person keeps winning, there's little opportunity to actually get them out. But Christian is also playing a great social game, seemingly friendly with everyone in the house and not deemed a mental threat since players like Hannah believe he's easy to manipulate. This puts him in a great position to stay for the long haul. Considering Christian was named a front-runner from the beginning of Big Brother 23, before the season even began, it's safe to say he has a good shot at being in the final two.

4 Alyssa Lopez

Alyssa has a strong social game. She isn't on anyone's radar, which is a perfect position to be in. Her showmance with Christian protects her, in a way, from being voted off by anyone who is aligned with him. But she is also part of a bigger alliance herself, The Royal Flush, which gives her protection.

Alyssa is likable and fun, and since she hasn't yet won anything, no one seems to be targeting her. While players like Tiffany are doing a great job at strategizing, she might be playing too hard, in the same way that Frenchie was, and it could backfire on her. Alyssa, meanwhile, could be considered a "floater" in the game, simply watching all of her alliance members win competitions to keep her safe. It doesn't sound like much of a game strategy, but she wouldn't be the first person to win the game by skating by, while others get the "blood on their hands."

3 Kyland Young

Kyland has the "nice guy" persona in the house, which makes him less of a threat. While he has fought hard in and won competitions, he doesn't stand out as a physical threat just yet. He gets along with everyone and is part of every major alliance in the house.

As a member of The Cookout, an alliance that has sparked polarizing views and some unpopular opinions on Reddit about Big Brother 23, he is protected by a majority alliance. Meanwhile, his close relationship with Sarah Beth puts him in a good position with the other side of the house. His closeness with her does make some members of The Cookout uncomfortable, and that could result in them losing trust in him. With that said, it's unlikely they will vote him out since they have all sworn to stick together until the end. And among The Cookout members, Kyland is the one with the closest relationship to other powerful players in the house, which puts him in the best position.

2 Derek Xiao

Derek has proven himself to be not only a competition beast but also a strategic and smart player who is always thinking several steps ahead. He will throw competitions when he believes it isn't in his best interest to win, even when he has the capability to win them. He knows when to put his best foot forward and when to scale back and put his ego aside.

Derek positioned himself perfectly in the house, being both aligned with his former team, the Aces, as well as The Royals. He's the only former Aces member to be invited to join the former Kings and Queens, three of the four teams that were revealed in one of the most exciting moments from the premiere of Big Brother 23. It seems there's no one in the house who dislikes Derek. While Whitney made sure to point out how much of a threat Derek was before she left, now that she is gone, he seems to have everyone on his side.

1 Claire Rehfuss

Claire is playing a quiet but strategic game, sitting back and listening to what others have to say while staying loyal to her alliance. She has also proven she can be a physical threat, winning a critical Wildcard competition. In fact, it was this win that gave her the reward of safety until jury. The Wildcard competition could potentially be added to the list of the most creative twists in Big Brother

With Claire not being an option to put on the block for the next few weeks, she will likely be able to fly under the radar since she can't be considered for nomination. During this time, chances are several bigger threats will emerge. Until she is an option for nominations again, she can lay low and emerge once her life in the game is at risk and she has to work to keep herself safe. But the time she has now to relax and let a plan brew is a huge advantage in a game like Big Brother.
