A Quiet Place's World Explained: Everywhere We Know The Monsters Landed

A Quiet Place’s apocalypse hit the world all at once, with the alien monsters crashing down on Earth in several different countries. John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place movies have revamped the mainstream sci-fi horror genre as a New York family survives a world with sound-sensitive monsters. The Abbott family has survived longer than most in the apocalyptic world due to their fluency in sign language, which they learned before the invasion due to their daughter being deaf.

The first A Quiet Place movie is ambiguous as to how and when the aliens crashed on Earth, with most clues coming from newspaper clippings gathered by Lee (Krasinski). A Quiet Place Part II fills in more of the gaps, using the film’s opening sequence as a flashback to when the monsters first landed and attacked their New York town. Since Krasinski has already confirmed the third installment of A Quiet Place will be produced, the series will hopefully give a better global idea of how many nations and areas have been deeply affected.

Considering the monsters landed all over Earth subsequently, it’s curious as to how newspapers were circulated in the days and weeks following their crash, especially considering it’s a quite noisy craft. Nonetheless, newspaper articles, broadcasts, and first-hand accounts reveal all of the so-far confirmed places the monsters landed in A Quiet Place.

The only alien crash experienced first-hand during the movies is in the New England area. The Abbotts live in upstate New York, where on the first day of the apocalypse, their town is immediately terrorized by aliens after seeing a meteor in the sky. When A Quiet Place's Regan Abbott ventures into the basement, she sees a wall of information on the apocalypse, which features a timestamp that reads “Boston: 19:58.” This clue indicates there were either two New England meteors, or the one the Abbotts saw actually crashed further away in Boston, Massachusetts.

A Quiet Place Part II’s opening sequence begins with Lee going to the pharmacy, where he sees a news broadcast documenting a mysterious meteor crash in Shanghai, China. This occurred only minutes before the Abbotts experienced the New England monster attack, which means Shanghai was likely the first place the aliens landed.

Although not on the whiteboard timestamps, A Quiet Place’s news clipping wall features an article about the monsters' meteor landing in Mexico, though the city wasn't revealed. The country was thought to be the original crash site until A Quiet Place 2's opening scene.

On Lee's list of landings, he writes that monsters crashed in New Delhi, India at 19:42. New Delhi is at the top of the list, suggesting it may be the first place the monsters landed on Earth.

Only five minutes after A Quiet Place's monsters invaded New Delhi, the aliens crashed in the nearby Asian country Singapore at 19:47. With several confirmed crashes in populous Asian countries, the continent was hit harder than many other areas.

Another timestamp on the whiteboard states that aliens landed in Bogota, Columbia at 19:52, only a few more seconds before Boston, MA was hit. With South America confirmed, the only populated continent that could be safe is Australia, considering the movies never mention the country, and A Quiet Place 2 suggests islands can remain safe.

Considering how vast Russia is, it’s curious that the aliens landed in its most densely populated city, though they may have just been attracted to the noise in their flight path. On Lee’s whiteboard, he wrote that monsters landed in Moscow, Russia at 19:54.

The final confirmed landing site for A Quiet Place’s monsters is London, England, another conveniently populous city for the noise-sensitive creatures. By Lee’s indication, London was an early crash location for the monsters on Earth. The whiteboard gives its timestamp as 19:49, almost 10 minutes ahead of A Quiet Place's New England crash.
