Huge Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Completely Rebalances Combat

A massive new Cyberpunk 2077 mod rebalances the game from the ground up, allowing for much fairer combat. Overpowered enemies are just one of the many issues still plaguing CD Projekt Red's futuristic open-world RPG, which made headlines for all the wrong reasons when Cyberpunk 2077 launched with several game-breaking bugs and glitches last December.

In Cyberpunk 2007’s unmodded state, enemies gain stat boosts right alongside main character V as they level up. While this is a neat concept on paper, in practice enemies gain boosts that V doesn’t without certain items or upgrades equipped, meaning that they tend to overpower V if a player chooses to keep the default equipment or neglects to install any upgrades. This defeats the purpose of players customizing Cyberpunk 2077’s post-modern anti-hero as they see fit - not to mention some players might not know about certain legendary items being made available as they gain experience.

As reported by Eurogamer yesterday, noted modder Scissors12345432 recently posted their far-reaching Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay rebalance mod on Nexus Mods, which addresses several quality-of-life issues still lurking around in the default game. One of these is enemy scaling, which the mod removes outright. According to Scissors12345432, this required massive reductions in perks and items that increased damage, health, and crit chance stats. However, it has led to several other remedies, such as V's AI sidekicks now being useful in combat and enemies now being able to use body armor, as only a few select baddies in the base game can utilize stat-boosting Exo-suits.

To CD Projekt Red’s credit, it has made significant efforts to fix the many issues that have plagued Cyberpunk 2077 since its notorious launch last year. The developer put out a full roadmap for the various patches and updates that have come to Cyberpunk 2077 in the last few months, and while the most recent updates are minor and cosmetic in nature, overall performance has stabilized to the point where Sony eventually put Cyberpunk 2077 back on the PlayStation Store after it was famously removed not too long after the initial controversy broke out.

Still, there are plenty of areas that Cyberpunk 2077 needs to improve upon before players can truly call it the mind-breaking futuristic RPG experience that CD Projekt Red promised throughout Cyberpunk 2077's nearly five-year development cycle and hype build-up, and enemy balancing is squarely among them. The changes made in Scissors12345432’s game-rebalancing mod all but rework enemy power levels from the ground up, which could lead to smoother combat for those who wish to install it.
