Heather DuBrow appeared on The Real Housewives Of Orange County from seasons 7 through 11, and she is returning for season 16. Fans remember her elegant parties, the time she built a beautiful mansion, and, of course, her relationship with her sweet and funny husband, Terry.
Heather always knew how to stand her ground, and she proved herself to be a loyal friend who couldn't help but speak up when something was wrong. Yet while fans were on Heather's side during much of the drama on RHOC, the sometimes thought her behavior was confusing.
10 Supported: When She Told Kelly To Stop Being Mean
In a season 11 episode, the cast went for sushi. At one point Kelly got really upset and told Shannon to shut up using some ugly language. Heather thought that Kelly was being too cruel and said that it wasn't OK behavior.
Fans didn't always support Kelly Dodd on RHOC, and it was easier to take Heather's side during this intense scene. Viewers could put themselves in Heather's shoes, as she only wanted to go out for dinner with a group of friends and have a nice time instead of listening to someone swearing and yelling.
9 Didn't Support: When She And Shannon Wanted To Sit In The Same Chair
In the season 9 episode "I Couldn't Chair Less," Shannon and Heather argued because they wanted to sit in the exact same chair.
This didn't make much sense at the time and it still doesn't, so fans were confused by Heather's behavior. Was this really such a big deal? Couldn't Heather have let Shannon have the chair and found another place to sit? Sometimes the fights on the Real Housewives can be pretty baffling to viewers, and this is a good example.
8 Supported: When Terry Admitted He Talked About Divorce
At one dinner, Terry asked if he could talk, and Heather joked that she couldn't stop him from saying anything. Heather said that when she got the lead guest star role on a TV show, she wanted him to totally support her, but he kept joking around. Terry admitted, "I actually got mad. I said some things" and "I used the D-word. Divorce."
The cast looked on in shock, and Heather said to the cameras that she was embarrassed that he brought it up. Fans sympathized with Heather and understood that it was a tough moment in her relationship. Yet Terry and Heather are a fan-favorite couple on the Real Housewives, so it was good to see them be vulnerable.
7 Didn't Support: When She Kicked Shannon Out Of Her House
The season 9 episode "Skunk In The Barnyard" was a tough one for Heather and Shannon. Shannon went to Heather's house to talk to her regarding rumors that had been swirling about Shannon's marriage. Shannon didn't want Heather talking to others about Shannon's marriage problems. Heather got mad and made Shannon leave her house.
Fans couldn't understand why Heather didn't see the situation through Shannon's eyes. After all, no one wants to hear rumors about their relationship. It seemed reasonable for Shannon to seek reassurance from Heather that she wasn't involved in the gossip.
6 Supported: When Andy Cohen Asked If She Was "Pretentious"
At one reunion, Andy Cohen talked about Heather building a dream house. Before showing some clips, he asked the audience, "Was 'fancy pants' actually wearing 'pretentious pants'? You decide."
Heather's "fancy" attitude was often talked about on RHOC, but Heather might have felt a little awkward sitting there at the reunion and hearing everyone discuss her behavior. No one wants to be called pretentious, even if they sometimes say things that rub people the wrong way.
5 Didn't Support: When She Didn't Hear Gretchen's POV
In one season 8 scene, Gretchen said, "You threw me under the bus trying to talk at the table read with industry people. I don't think that was cool." Heather wouldn't listen to what her co-star was saying and said Gretchen was "wrong." Gretchen shared with the cameras that she felt Heather was being "condescending."
Fans didn't think that Heather was being very nice here, as she seemed to assume that Gretchen wanted to be an actress, and Gretchen said that she was involved with other things. Heather didn't seem to be listening.
4 Supported: When Her Friends Ignored Her In Mexico
The best Real Housewives Of Orange County vacations included several trips to Mexico. This includes a trip for Tamra's bachelorette party. Heather wrote a blog post for Bravo in which she shared that when she and Gretchen came back from a bathroom trip, their co-stars had left. Heather was confused about why the group didn't text them and let them know where they were going.
Fans could see why Heather would be upset about this situation. It would be strange and unnerving to be in the same situation, especially since she was trying to show Tamra a good time and celebrate this big moment in her life.
3 Didn't Support: When She Got Mad At A Guest Eating The Bow Off Her Cake
When Heather was milling about at a party she threw in season 7, a guest told her that someone named Sarah took the bow from the cake so she could eat it. Heather said, "She broke my cake? That is the rudest thing."
The Real Housewives Of Orange County has many small moments, but this was an iconic one that fans still talk about. While it made sense that Heather would be angry that a party guest ate the bow from her cake, she could have shrugged it off and continued to have a great night.
2 Supported: When She Shared Her Proposal Story
In one season 7 scene, Heather talked about what it was like when Terry asked her to marry him. She said that they were on a plane to Paris and she didn't think that it was romantic. Tamra said, "I'm not sure that all the women enjoyed Heather's stories. ... It was kind of hard to feel sorry for her about her engagement."
While it's true that Heather was lucky to go to Paris, and the proposal does sound totally fine, she's allowed to say that she wished her proposal happened at a different time and place. Everyone has a certain vision of the way their big life milestones are going to happen.
1 Didn't Support: When She Said She Didn't Live Near Shannon
In a confusing scene, Shannon said that she bought a lot near Heather's, and Heather said that she wouldn't consider that the same neighborhood. Shannon admitted to the cameras that she was surprised and thought it was strange because it was definitely the same area.
Even if Heather didn't really believe it was the exact same neighborhood, there was no harm in agreeing with Shannon, as Shannon's feelings seemed hurt. It was hard not to feel Heather was being unfair here.
