Kelly Dodd and Rick Leventhal are unveiling a new podcast following Kelly's firing from The Real Housewives of Orange County, and they have received mixed reactions about it. The married couple took to Instagram to tease their new podcast Unmasked. Considering the chosen name for the new show, it's clear that Kelly plans to keep the controversy coming amid her removal from Bravo. Her unfiltered remarks on social media have already gotten her in enough trouble. But it doesn't look like Kelly is afraid of a little backlash as long as it fuels her career.
After getting the pink slip, Kelly has continued finding new ways to bring in money. She has gotten paid to film Cameos for fans, some of which she had to issue out apologies over, and has been posting more paid ads on Instagram. It was mostly her antics on social media that spilled over into Kelly being labeled a villain on RHOC. Between all the controversial comments she made about the pandemic and even Black Lives Matter, show fans had enough of Kelly, and apparently, the producers did too. After her firing, Kelly even admitted to rubbing producers the wrong way and offered an apology. But as the dust settles, Kelly isn't stopping her career endeavors and recently debuted her latest venture alongside her husband.
In recent days, Kelly and Rick have been sharing video clips promoting their new podcast. "SNEAK PEEK! 1st look at a clip from our new podcast Rick & Kelly UNMASKED… coming soon on PATREON," one post on their podcast page read. In the clip, Rick asks his wife why she has no filter. "I think there's something lacking in my brain," Kelly says in response. "I don't know what it is. It's bad," she adds. Many of her fans flooded the comments expressing their excitement for the show. Many asked how they can subscribe and told Kelly to continue being the unfiltered conservative pundit she's become known to be.
She was praised for her blunt honesty on Instagram. "I don’t think it’s bad. I think you’re just brutally honest. I prefer this over fake," one person said. "The name of this podcast is absolutely perfect," added someone else. There was one spectator who noted all the backtracking Kelly has done on the show and social media whenever her words get her into serious trouble. "You do have a filter, you’ve apologized for so many statements on RHOC and WHHL lol #fraud," the follower quipped. Most recently, Kelly apologized to a fan who paid her to make a Cameo where she ended up going on a wild inebriated rant where she spewed out transphobic comments.
Others noticed that the comments on her podcast page were either turned off or limited in an obvious attempt to control the narrative. "Why does Kelly have comments turned off? If she gives zero fuc*s, she shouldn’t care about haters," they said. So far, the page is only following 10 accounts that include Fox News where Rick used to work, and Kelly's old stomping ground at Bravo. Despite being fired from The Real Housewives of Orange County, Kelly is trying anything she can to maintain relevancy and bring in some money.
