Meghan McCain was so disturbed by the Black Shabbat debate on The Real Housewives of New York City, she took to Twitter to voice her concern. Ramona Singer is a show OG who has always been the most outspoken on the New York franchise. But Season 13 viewers have watched Ramona's mouth get her into more serious trouble at a time of heightened racial tension. Eboni K. Williams' addition as the first Black housewife on the show has led to much-needed conversations around race and culture. While the majority of the cast have been open to Eboni's teachable moments, Ramona has declared how "preachy" she finds the newcomer and the lack of interest she has in talking about certain topics. In the most recent episode, Eboni hosted a Black Shabbat party where she wanted to tackle the commonalities Black and Jewish people share while showing respect to the Jewish faith.
Everyone seemed on board except for Ramona. She continues to badger Eboni and the group about why she felt things shouldn't be centered around the Black struggle. Ramona somehow turned the event into a therapy session about the Jewish people who made her feel left out growing up. Her tone-deaf approach to the event led to a debate among the ladies, with Leah McSweeney yelling at Ramona through FaceTime. Eboni's friends, who were in attendance, looked so uncomfortable during the exchange, and many viewers felt their pain.
Among the viewers feeling uncomfortable about the Black Shabbat debate was none other than The View alum Meghan McCain. The outspoken conservative news pundit shared a since-deleted tweet that was captured by Reality Blurb. In the post, the outspoken former talk show host expressed that she found the most recent episode "hard to watch." Meghan showed concern for Eboni's friends, who attended the dinner that Meghan says turned into pure "chaos." As a delay in filming the reunion show continues, Ramona is continuing to put herself further into the hot seat.
Meghan was so bothered by the Black Shabbat debate, she begged for the return of show alum Dorinda Medley. “This episode of [RHONY] is just pure chaos and not in the good way…I feel particularly bad for the one man at the dinner table tonight," Meghan said while mentioning Eboni's male friend, who remained quiet during the awkward exchange. "This isn’t fun at all. It’s hard to watch and not why I like the Housewives," Meghan added. "Please bring back [Dorinda Medley] and [Bluestone Manor] already.” Meghan's criticism of the show resembles that of many viewers who have shared how turned off they are by the constant talk about racism.
While it's understandable why certain conversations have occurred considering the climate in America in 2020, many viewers feel like the fun of The Real Housewives of New York City is missing in season 13. Dorinda was given the axe last summer after season 12 wrapped. But considering the viewer feedback, it looks like producers might want to consider bringing her back. The ratings have been the lowest they've ever been, and there's talk of a huge rift among the cast that led to a delay in production. Dorinda might be the saving grace they need.
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Bravo.
