Rian Johnson's Mystery Series Finds Its Showrunners | Screen Rant

Rian Johnson's Peacock mystery series Poker Face finds its showrunners. Writer-director Johnson became the modern day master of the murder-mystery genre thanks to his 2019 film Knives Out, which went on to gross an impressive $311 million worldwide. After that film's surprise box office success, Netflix shelled out $450 million for the privilege of making two Knives Out sequels, both starring Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc. The currently filming Knives Out 2 (as it's unofficially being called) boasts the requisite all-star murder-mystery cast, including Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Ethan Hawke, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Not content with leading his movie mystery franchise to bigger and better things, with a lot of help from Netflix and its deep pockets, Johnson has also signed on with Peacock to create a mystery series titled Poker Face. As reported by Variety, the new show has now found its showrunners in Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Natasha Lyonne is already on board to executive produce and star.

The Zuckermans' list of previous credits includes the Fox shows Prodigal Son and Fringe, ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., USA's Suits and Syfy's Haven. Plot details about Poker Face are being kept under tight wraps - which should come as no surprise given how closely Johnson has guarded the secrets surrounding his Knives Out movies. Poker Face is set to run for ten episodes with Johnson announced to direct. The Knives Out auteur of course has plenty of past experience as a TV director, having helmed some of the more acclaimed episodes of AMC's Breaking Bad.
