Throughout Schitt's Creek's six seasons, fans watched the Roses humble themselves as they became comfortable with their new normal. The end of the series wrapped up the characters' storylines nicely, giving fans hope for a brighter future for Johnny, Moira, David, and Alexis. However, there are some things that pop up during the rewatch that have fans scratching their heads.
Over on Reddit, fans have come together to discuss different moments, decisions, and theories that keep them up at night. From everyone only eating at Cafe Tropical to the sustainability of Rose Apothecary in a town like Schitt's Creek, it's hard to sleep at night when there are no answers to these questionable moments.
10 A Theory That Will Never Have An Answer
The final season of Schitt's Creek tied up all of the loose ends and set each character on an exciting journey. However, Lovingthat000 has a theory that will most likely never be answered now that the series is over. The Redditor wrote that "the deadpan/awesome comedic delivery of Stevie and Alexis 'I didn't sleep last night me either'" could have been a coy way of hinting that the two hooked up. The idea that these two could be starting some kind of relationship is undoubtedly keeping fans up at night.
9 Why Does David Sleep In His Day Clothes?
Similar to how Moira falls asleep in vests and brooches, David falls asleep in his day shirts and high-end sweaters. Ihaterush wrote, "That David sleeps in his clothes every night" bothers them — and they weren't alone. It was not the most realistic moment that David didn't have a pair of designer pajamas that he ironed before bed. Nevertheless, it's just another small detail that keeps fans up at night.
8 Will Rose Apothecary Last In A Small Town?
There are a few things about Rose Apothecary that don't always make sense, which is just one of the things that keep Inthedarktheresnolit up at night. "I always wondered how the apothecary stayed open when it was almost always empty. It bothers me," they wrote.
Another fan brought up a good point about the store's future in the town. "The sustainability of the Rose Apothecary in such a small town" is unrealistic because of how small it is. Not to mention it's not the most modern of towns where people would want the kinds of things that David sells.
7 Where Is The Town's Grocery Store?
When David realized he needed to get a job to bring in some kind of income, he attempted working as a bag boy at the local grocery store. His first day went horribly and he walked out of his shift early. However, that was the last time viewers saw the grocery store. In fact, the only form of food in Schitt's Creek seems to come from Cafe Tropical. It's one of those small things about the town that doesn't make sense and keeps fans up at night. The fact that "The only source of food was the Cafe Tropical" was enough for JeepPilot to question it on Reddit.
6 Where Are The Winter Months?
It's not said where Schitt's Creek is in the world (and there are some comments that make it seem American), but it's filmed in Ontario, Canada. With this being the case, it's frustrating for some that the show doesn't have some of Canada's well-known elements like cold months and snow. "[The weather] bothers me (even though I love the show) that it’s always summer, especially in shows set in Canada," Alpinweg wrote. In fact, there's only one holiday-themed episode ('Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose') that showcases a more realistic view of Canada.
5 There's No Way That Portrait Would Have Fit Inside The Motel
When the IRS returned the Rose's massive family portrait to them, they had the faintest idea of where to put it. Johnny was attached to the image because it was a reminder of what they had and who they used to be. However, it was just too large for their small motel. Lgisme33 posed the question, "How did they get the giant portrait inside?" Johnny was somehow able to place the portrait in the lobby, but it doesn't make sense that the Rosebud Motel had the space to get that portrait inside.
4 Stevie Could Have Done More Than Expanding Her Motel
Formercotsachick can't sleep over the fact that Stevie could have done far more with her career than franchising the motel. "I can't stop thinking about what would happen if she played this multi-motel franchise into a new identity of a real estate mover and shaker in the long term," they wrote.
Stevie and David's friendship was just a small part of the series, but her character arc involving her career was just as important. The idea that she could have turned a great idea into an even bigger opportunity is hard to shake because Stevie deserved more than Schitt's Creek.
3 Mutt & Alexis's Breakup Never Fails To Bring On The Tears
Although Alexis and Ted's relationship is favored by fans, it's her brief romance with Mutt that's hard not to think about. In particular, their breakup was one of the most emotional moments in the show. As they sat in Cafe Tropical, they barely said a word but looked at each other with tears in their eyes, knowing their time together was through. Frickinsnebhole wrote, "I am brought to tears by Alexis after [she] and Mutt break up wrote." The actors did such a great job of selling the scene that it's hard not to think about once that head hits the pillow.
2 Patrick Didn't Belong In Schitt's Creek
As wonderful of a relationship that David and Parick have, Creature52 can't help but wonder why Patrick is in Schitt's Creek to begin with. They wrote, "Why did this smart, handsome, charming, ambitious man (with a Broadway-quality singing voice) move to Schitt's Creek again?" The reason why his presence keeps them up at night is because Stevie once said that no one attractive and ambitious lives in Schitt's Creek. If that's the case, then Patrick (a handsome go-getter) seems misplaced.
1 Moira's Unlikability
There are a few posts on Reddit that talk about Moira's character arc and how she doesn't change as much as the others. She was one of the funnier characters in the series but did she take this time of growth seriously? Ok_Hippo_8940 believes Moira to be unlikable, writing, "I love what she does for the show, but as the other characters soften, Moira really doesn't seem to." While her unlikability keeps this fan up at night, others are up because they feel the opposite. Martynic385 disagreed and felt that she "improves" over time and becomes a better mother and wife.
