Fans can finally rejoice as Sony and Marvel Studios finally released the trailer for one of the most-anticipated movies of 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The wait became so arduous that the trailer was leaked a day before the official release. Now, the wait is on for December 17 as fans are eager to see what unfolds after watching the trailer.
Fans posted their tweets and memes that best described their reaction to revelations, including the multiverse finally taking effect and the nostalgia of previous Spider-Man supervillains returning. Some of these tweets express the people's love and anticipation for the film, while others posted hilarious commentary.
10 Cue Maguire's Cringeworthy Dance
With the film just under five months from its release, people grew impatient and even worrisome if a trailer would even come out. It was confirmed that the trailer would air at CinemaCon, causing many fans to camp on Twitter with hopes of the trailer drop. Luckily, it did!
Despite how cringe-worthy this scene is from Spider-Man 3, it is perhaps the best reaction from Twitter user @spideygifs of the whole fandom dancing and happy for the trailer drop.
9 Wanda Predicted The Date
While many people tried to give their best guesses for the drop date, Twitter user @HenryTheBlasian realized that the hint was shown in WandaVision's first episode. As Wanda and Vision look at the calendar, they see a heart drawn on August 23 that indicated a special night.
Well, a special night indeed for Spider-Man fans since August 23 will be remembered as the day that the No Way Home trailer was released and ended the long, agonizing wait. It is unclear if this was done intentionally or coincidentally by Marvel Studios. At least Wanda deserves some credit for her prediction game.
8 Matt Murdock, Is That You?
Last year, it was confirmed that Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx would reprise their roles as Doctor Octopus and Electro, which raised the possibilities of a multiverse storyline. Throughout these last few months, fans speculated other characters could return to the MCU. One character that surfaced was Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, and this speculation came to light when news outlets shared rumors about Charlie Cox reprising him.
While it remains a rumor, for now, many fans started looking at the small details of the trailer. Twitter user @qLxke_ took a closer look at an unidentified man in the room with Peter Parker. The appearance and outfit of this unknown person seem awfully like Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, possibly acting as a lawyer on Parker's behalf. There is still no confirmation, but fans hope that the Hell Kitchen's vigilante will meet the Avenger youngster.
7 Our Childhood Is Back!
Many older fans are feeling emotional about the nostalgic factor of No Way Home. The trailer presented several Spider-Man supervillains from the previous series portrayed by the same actors. Other supervillains were teased, adding more suspense and excitement as fans countdown to the days of the film's release.
Here, Twitter user @jake_metz best describes fans' sentiment with Tobey Maguire's crying Spider-Man. For many fans, they were just kids when Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was released in theaters, and the series launched the popularity and success of Spider-Man. Furthermore, Maguire had one of the best Peter Parker portrayals. 19 years later, these kids are now adults, but the trailer certainly brought back childhood memories.
6 The Multiverse Of Magic
It appears that magic is becoming a common theme in MCU's Phase Four. Twitter user @wandasolsen pointed out every character who has used magic at some point, including the Scarlet Witch, Sylvie, Agatha Harkness, and Doctor Strange.
Furthermore, magic is synchronous with the multiverse as Doctor Strange could not cast a spell properly, leading to the unstable multiverse. With no time stone to manipulate time, magic is the next best option, and it will likely continue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
5 A Long Sacrifice For A No Show
The multiverse is confirmed, and Spider-Man's supervillains have already appeared in the trailer. However, many fans are curious if Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield will return as their versions of Spider-Man and encounter Tom Holland's Spider-Man. In doing so, this would set the direction for a spider-verse and lead to the most ambitious team-up since Avengers: Endgame.
Unfortunately, the trailer never showed either actor in a single scene, causing some outrage among fans. One fan includes Twitter user @obscurereaction, using a perfect Norman Osborn scene to express his disappointment and overreaction. While their appearance could mean fixing some plot holes from Sam Raimi's trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man series, it is another waiting game.
4 The Sinister Six Are Coming
Fans grew excited about the multiverse unleashing in Phase Four, and as it takes center stage in No Way Home, there also appears to be another plotline developing. Given the announcement of Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx in No Way Home, many people speculated that the film would also introduce the Sinister Six. The question remained who would be the remaining four members?
Although Doctor Octopus was the only supervillain to appear in the trailer, the trailer added some teases and hints about other potential supervillains to make up the count, and fans instantly noticed. Twitter user @DaanLugo provided side-by-side proof of the supervillains. The orange and green bomb resembles that of Green Goblin's tech, indicating his return. However, the scenes harder to discern included a sand monster blocking electricity and a dark view of a creature. Fans believe them to be Sandman and Lizard. If true, this means five of the six members are now confirmed and leaves speculations on who the sixth and final member could be.
3 Peter Parker Is Such A Poser
Many superheroes have their superhero landing or pose, and the trailer showed Spider-Man's most famous pose. Funnily, it gained attention in Black Widow when Yelena called out Natasha for her cringe poses. It became a running gag that even Yelena did the same pose before feeling uncomfortable.
Now, Peter Parker joins the list for being such a poser. As shared by Twitter user @bippitycabello, Peter Parker is replicating the same pose to that of Yelena and Natasha. Of course, this is not the first time since Peter has done this pose countless times. It is getting more attention now due to the comedic relief set by Yelena, and the "such a poser" scene is one of the funniest moments in Black Widow.
2 Sharing The Responsibilities Of Multiverse Mess
Almost every Phase Four content has shown impacts to the space, time, and reality continuum, making the possibilities of a multiverse inevitable. Therefore, many people believed that the responsibilities rested on Doctor Strange's shoulders to clean the mess. He has experience with the time stone and thinks philosophically and rationally rather than emotionally.
However, as shown in the trailers, Doctor Strange is also at fault for causing the multiverse break, and it is a reckless action that viewers did not anticipate. Twitter user @kurtmaximoff shared a hilarious meme from Mean Girls in which other characters invite him to mess with the timeline. Of course, he now joins Wanda, Sylvie, and Loki for carelessly unleashing the multiverse.
1 It Puts A Smile On Kang The Conqueror's Face
A multiverse is a significant event that will impact Phase Four, and the instability so far seen is only just the beginning. As shows like Loki and WandaVision showcased hints of the multiverse unleashing, Doctor Strange committed the most atrocious act of messing with the timeline to help Peter Parker with his situation.
Of course, the multiverse is only setting up for the MCU's biggest bad, Kang the Conqueror, an avid time-traveler who will likely try to take over different dimensions. However, many MCU characters are already creating the damages of the multiverse, and Twitter user @HeatCFC perfectly presents Kang's reaction to their mess. Wherever he is hiding, the multiverse is putting a smile on his face.
