Trying To Buy An Nvidia RTX 30? Tomorrow Might Be Your Lucky Day

Nvidia RTX 30 graphics cards have been all but impossible to find for the past year, but thanks to a huge restock happening at Best Buy on August 26, a chance to buy one at MSRP is almost here. Since its unveiling in September 2020, the RTX 30 Series has stood out as one of Nvidia's strongest GPU lineups to date. Whether someone wants the ultra-powerful RTX 3090 or entry-level RTX 3060, there's a GPU for just about any budget.

Despite the cards having excellent specs and competitive prices, actually buying one has been a chore and a half. A combination of crypto miners and the chip shortage has resulted in nonexistent inventory, scalpers quickly buy up any available cards to sell them at ridiculous prices, and that leaves gamers with almost no chance to buy a new GPU. It's been like this for months, shows no sign of changing any time soon, and it's resulted in an extremely frustrating situation.

Thankfully, there does appear to be a small light at the end of the tunnel. While the shortage itself isn't ending, Best Buy has confirmed that a huge restock is happening on Thursday, August 26. The cards will be limited to in-store sales at select locations, but this is one of the best chances in a while to buy an RTX 30 without paying hundreds more than it's actually worth.

Over 80 Best Buy locations throughout 45 states are participating in this restock. If someone lives near a store where RTX 30 GPUs will be available, buying one isn't as easy as walking in and taking a card off the shelf. Best Buy will hand out tickets to people lined up outside beginning at 7:30 AM local time. When someone gets a ticket, that guarantees they'll be able to purchase one RTX 30 card when the store opens at 8:00 AM. Best Buy says it'll have "limited quantities available" for Nvidia's cards, meaning there won't be an endless supply of these tickets to go around. In other words, anyone who really wants an RTX 30 will want to show up well before 7:30 when those tickets are handed out.

While Best Buy hasn't confirmed exact availability for the restock, GPURestock on Twitter published a leaked inventory sheet with that information. It claims Best Buy has around 17,000 RTX 30 cards to go around — including the RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, 3060 Ti, 3080 Ti, and 3070 Ti. The only card missing from that list is the RTX 3060.

Having to jump through so many hoops just to buy a GPU isn't ideal, but unfortunately, that's where the market is at right now. With only so many cards to go around and online scalpers proving unbeatable, resorting to an in-person system like this is about the best option available. Good luck!
