90 Day Fiancé: Cast Members Who Formed Patchwork Families

The 90 Day Fiancé franchise has aired all kinds of relationships since it debuted in 2014, from young romances to couples with 30-year age gaps, and it's time to talk about cast members' blended families. The show's stars have formed many different types of patchwork families. Some spouses didn't seamlessly integrate into existing family units, while others surprised audiences with their love and maturity. There is plenty to learn about the most successful and controversial blended families composed of 90 Day Fiancé cast members.

The extended franchise has showcased families in many forms, including classic stepparent scenarios. A number of couples had prior relationships, marriages, and children. These factors have influenced current franchise relationships. New partners have sought different ways to integrate themselves into family units and respect their partners' pasts while working to build successful futures.

Dating someone with children can pose unique challenges, as the ex (and parent of the kids) is often in the picture. However, some cast members stepped up when it came to embracing their stepchildren and creating happy patchwork families. Other cast members shocked audiences with their cold rejection of their spouses' children, which led to a number of controversial moments in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise.

Michael Jessen and Juliana Custodio shocked audiences in the best way when it came to forming a patchwork family. Audiences expected Michael’s ex-wife Sarah to be angry when Michael brought his significantly younger international model fiance, Juliana, to the United States and introduced him to their children. However, Juliana’s kind nature quickly won Sarah over. The two women displayed maturity by becoming fast friends, which led to Sarah officiating Michael and Juliana’s wedding. Juliana, Michael, Sarah, and the children have formed a happy blended family. They all enjoy spending time together and appear to get along well. Many viewers consider 90DF's Michael, Sarah, and Juliana the ultimate example of how to have relationships after divorce when children are involved.

Meanwhile, Eric Rosenbrook and Leida Margaretha have been hailed as the biggest villains in the franchise. Leida earned the title of the worst stepparent of all time due to the abhorrent way she treated Eric’s daughter. When Leida arrived from Indonesia, she was angry to discover Eric was paying child support for his kids. She butted heads with his teenage daughter, Tania, who was not happy to have a new stepmother. In one of the most controversial plot points in the entire franchise, Leida kicked Tania out of her home and obtained a restraining order against the teen. Eric shockingly backed Leida's decision. which cemented Eric and Leida's 90DF villain status.

Matt Ryan and Alla Fedoruk displayed another heartwarming story of love after divorce during 90 Day Fiancé season 4. Matt and Alla connected online, lost contact, married other people, divorced their partners, and then married each other. Alla joined Matt in the United States with her young son, whom Matt quickly embraced as his own. Alla and her son announced that they had obtained their US citizenship this year, to the joy of their followers. Meanwhile, they expanded their happy family with baby Emmalynn. Matt and Alla announced that baby number three is on the way, and they celebrated the news by sharing adorable photos of their current happy blended family of four. Fans congratulated 90DF's Matt and Alla on their baby news, and they remain one of the most beloved franchise couples.

Mark and Nikki Shoemaker are one couple who did not form a happy blended family. Understandably, Mark’s children were not thrilled when he brought Nikki from the Philippines, since all four of Mark’s adult children were older than Nikki. Mark went on to treat Nikki as though she was one of his children rather than his wife. He infamously asked her not to touch his car windows and tried to make her wear his daughter’s old clothing. Though the couple disappeared from the spotlight, one of Mark’s daughters has called out her father on TikTok for his bad behavior. While she confirmed that 90DF couple Mark and Nikki were together as far as she knew, they certainly never formed a happy blended family.

On the other hand, Gwen and Monty Eymard demonstrated that a person doesn't have to be someone’s biological parent to be their real parent. Gwen had Jovi Dufren with another man before marrying Monty Eymard and later giving birth to her second son, Mason. However, Jovi considers Monty to be his father, while Monty has always treated Jovi like his son. Gwen and Monty have a lot of love for their boys, while Gwen has also won over audiences by being an outstanding mother-in-law to Jovi’s wife Yara Zaya. Viewers have applauded Gwen for always supporting Yara and for holding Jovi accountable for his actions.

Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez were one 90 Day Fiancé couple that fans were against. Often, when an older woman in the franchise marries a younger man, the guy does not show interest in being a stepparent. This was certainly the case for the Dominican Republic native Luis, who did not want to be a parent to Molly’s two daughters. Luis actually made the girls uncomfortable and even made what audiences interpreted to be inappropriate comments to Molly’s older daughter. Fortunately, Molly found a more suitable partner on 90 Day: The Single Life. Her current boyfriend Kelly appears to fit in well with her family, and he gets along with her daughters.

Armando Rubio and Kenneth Niedermeier have created a wonderful blended family in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Armando was married before meeting Kenneth and he tragically lost his wife and their unborn baby. However, 90DF's Armando still has his adorable daughter Hannah. Armando made the courageous choice to come out to his conservative family and explore his romance with Kenneth on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Armando and Kenneth are now planning Armando’s dream wedding, while Hannah is lucky to have two fathers who love her very much. Kenneth and Armando are considered one of the most beloved couples in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise.
