90 Day Fiancé: Why The Other Way Season 3 Is TLC’s Most Contrived Yet

90 Day Fiancé fans have been complaining that the show seems staged in recent years, and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 is the most obviously fabricated installment in the history of this franchise. From Ariela Weinberg’s relationship with ex-husband Leandro to newcomer Alina’s plan to entrap her boyfriend Steven to test his loyalty, most of the storylines on this season are extremely unrealistic. TLC may be pushing fake plot points to drum up drama, but it is also testing the limits of believability.

Even though the franchise is still extremely popular, many 90 Day Fiancé viewers have expressed growing frustration over the way the show and its spin-offs have been changing, or rather, not changing. The franchise in general has been reusing cast members on a regular basis, and some fans are starting to get tired of seeing the same faces all the time. This may have led TLC to try to increase the excitement each season to keep viewers entertained. However, now fans are getting annoyed with the scripted drama on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise.

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 features several returning couples and two new ones, as American cast members attempt to adjust to life overseas. Overall, viewers are already suspicious of some of the events on the show, particularly what’s been going on in Ariela and Biniyam Shibre’s storyline. Fans are having a hard time believing that Ariela just happened to forget to wear her wedding ring when going to see her ex-husband, or that she actually asked him to buy her undergarments. Ariela tried to play it off, but viewers suspect these were pre-planned by production to create a more interesting story.

Aside from Ariela’s many red flags on 90 Day Fiancé, newcomers Steven Johnston and his Russian girlfriend Alina are raising eyebrows as well. In a scene between Alina and her friends, the group discussed a convoluted plan to test Steven’s loyalty to Alina. They talked about hiring a woman to flirt with Steven, so they could see how he responds to temptation. It’s a plot straight out of a cheesy sitcom and for many viewers, it was all too obvious that producers had orchestrated the entire scene.

This isn’t the first time in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise that fans have noticed producers pulling strings, but this is perhaps the most obvious. Viewers are having a tough time believing that Biniyam would put up with getting pushed aside for his wife’s ex-husband, or that The Other Way newbie Alina would concoct a plan out of a bad rom-com. If TLC continues to push unrealistic storylines, it could push some fans away.
