MCU: 10 Key Characters Most Likely To Die In Phase 4 | ScreenRant

Phase 4 of the MCU is already looking a lot different with ambitious shows like WandaVision and Loki as well as bringing new characters like Shang-Chi into the movies. With plenty more to come from this new stage of the MCU, there are likely going to be a lot of big surprises and, almost certainly, some major character deaths.

Obviously, it is a safe bet that some of the villains of Phase 4 will bite the dust. But with the MCU changing so much and so many chapters seeming to come to an end, there are some key heroes that fans will likely have to bid farewell to.

10 Bruce Banner

It seems like one of the big themes of Phase 4 is the passing of the torch. Many of the established heroes are stepping aside for a new generation to step into the spotlight. This includes Bruce Banner who seems ready to hand his hero mantel over in the upcoming She-Hulk.

The storyline could end with Banner ridding himself of Hulk, but he seemed to come to peace with their coexistence in Avengers: Endgame. Instead, it might be that there is a more tragic end for Banner in mind.

9 Jane Foster

Jane Foster's return in Thor: Love and Thunder is quite a surprise and could really shake up the MCU. But while she will reportedly be becoming the new God of Thunder, there are aspects of the movie that make it feel as if it will be a short return.

It has been rumored that the fourth Thor movie will follow the comic book storyline involving Jane having cancer while also becoming Lady Thor. Taika Waititi has been very successful at mixing comedy and tragedy which could be the direction he plans to go with Jane's return.

8 Talos

The upcoming series Secret Invasion will see the return of Talos, the leader of the Skrull refugees. He will once again be teaming up with Nick Fury to investigate an invasion of Skrull who are hiding in disguise on Earth.

The movie sounds to be a buddy cop story with a sci-fi twist, but it could also set Talos up for a heroic death. Talos proved that the Skrull were peaceful and noble people, but with rogue members of his people becoming villains, it would make sense if he died continuing to prove that point.

7 Monica Rambeau

Though she has only appeared in two projects thus far, Monica Rambeau has already had quite a journey in the MCU. She was introduced as a little girl in Captain Marvel before following her mother's footsteps in WandaVision.

Next, Monica reteams with Captain Marvel in The Marvels alongside Ms. Marvel. While the three female superheroes will make a formidable team, it also feels like it could conclude Monica's story. Becoming a hero in her own right brings her full circle and losing her could be a hugely emotional moment for Captain Marvel.

6 Hawkeye

After being sidelined in much of the MCU, Hawkeye will get his own solo project with a Disney+ series. It also appears to be another instance of a hero passing on the torch as he will be partnered with Kate Bishop as a new archer hero.

Killing off Hawkeye after he managed to reunite with his family would probably be a bit dark for the MCU. However, with Yelena seemingly coming to seek revenge against him, she might end up killing him thus making the new Hawkeye and new Black Widow enemies.

5 Ajak

Like the rest of the characters from the upcoming movie, fans likely don't know much about Ajak from Eternals. What little information that has been shared suggests that she is the leader of the superpowered individuals which sets her up as the most likely to die.

She looks to be a maternal figure who guides the heroes in their journey throughout history. With a new threat emerging, Ajak's death would establish the very real danger and cause uncertainty among the remaining heroes.

4 Peter Parker

There is a lot of excitement surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home, but there is also the possibility it will be the last fans see of Tom Holland's Peter Parker in the MCU. And while many expect he will continue to appear in Sony's Marvel movies, it's also possible he could die only for a new Spider-verse to be established.

But as with all the rumors surrounding the movie, it is also possible that it is not Holland's Peter that dies. If Tobey Maguire does indeed return in this sequel, the older Spider-Man sacrificing his life for the young Spider-Man would be epic.

3 Hank Pym

With Kang the Conqueror joining Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, this sequel promises to be a game-changing MCU event. And as the third movie in the Ant-Man franchise, it is also possible that it closes this chapter. If so, it would make sense for Hank Pym's story to end with his death.

Hank has never been a particularly easy character to like as he can be controlling and hot-headed. But he has also shown that he loves his family and would do anything for them. Therefore, having him give his life to save the day would be a fitting end.

2 Rocket

James Gunn has already confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the end of his iteration of the team. And as Gunn proved in The Suicide Squad, he is not shy about killing off characters so it feels pretty much guaranteed at least one Guardian will die.

Out of all the heroes, Rocket seems like the most likely death. He has the most tragic backstory and has seemingly grown the most over the course of the movies. It would be a bittersweet end to see him dying for his new family.

1 Wanda Maximoff

Another character whose backstory is filled with sadness is Wanda Maximoff. Though she has learned a lot from her mistakes and went on an incredible journey in WandaVision, it still feels like her story is doomed to end in tragedy.

She will be returning in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where it is possible she will be the villain. This could lead to Strange being forced to kill Wanda in order to save the world and it would bring an end to her suffering.
