10 Best Video Game Compilations Available To Play | ScreenRant

Almost every video game released nowadays is part of a pre-established franchise of its own, and not everyone has the time to keep up with all the games in the series at all times. That is where official video game compilations made by the developers come in handy, as they combine all the games in the series (or some specific ones) into a convenient bundle. These compilations are useful in the sense that they allow for multiple games to be purchased at once, and also save buyers a lot of money.

Moreover, in many cases these compilations come with remastered versions of the original games, so, all in all, are a fantastic deal for gamers. Below are some of the best video game collections available on the market.

8 BioShock: The Collection

The first two Bioshock games revolve around the underwater city of Rapture, a setting that was unique and at the same time one of the spookiest in horror game history. The third game, Infinite, although a stand-alone story for the most part is still thematically linked to the previous games. With their awesome first-person gameplay and well-written narratives, the games are a must-play. BioShock: The Collection is a collection of the three games containing all single-player content, remastered in 1080p.

7 Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Uncharted is one of the many landmark titles available on the Playstation, and a fan-favorite series by every definition. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a compilation of the first three games in the series in remastered form, following the adventures of the titular hero Nathan Drake, made exclusively for the PS4.

Naughty Dog is the original developer of Uncharted, but this collection was developed by Bluepoint Games, who have remastered other games as well such as Shadow of the Colossus.

6 Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo is arguably the biggest and most famous title available on the Xbox, not to mention one of the oldest and best video game franchises around. Seeing how it has a rich history of games that are considered classics by many, it only made sense for them to be compiled together, which is exactly what the aptly named Master Chief Collection is. The MCC contains Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (a remake of the original game) and remasters of every other Halo game excluding Halo 5. It's the best thing out there for people wanting to get into the Halo franchise or even returning fans.

5 Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

The Mass Effect series has quite a reputation in the gaming community as a fantastic sci-fi RPG series, and the first three games revolving around Commander Shepard are considered the best of the series. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was released in 2021 that contains 4K remastered editions of the first three games, and is the best introduction to the franchise for new players.

The work done on the first game was more extensive than the other two, specifically, a new HUD was designed besides many other changes.

4 The Orange Box

The games Valve produced in the 2000s are each more iconic than the other, and The Orange Box compiles some of them into a nifty little package. The games included are Half-Life 2, the expansions Episode One and Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. Half-Life 2 was already a major hit at the time of the release of this compilation pack, but the first Portal game would go on to make quite a name for itself as well and is one of the best short games to play on PC. Team Fortress 2 is still played by thousands of people online daily.

3 Devil May Cry HD Collection

The Devil May Cry series follows the adventures of the demon hunter Dante, and features some of the most stylish and over-the-top combo-oriented combat found in video games. Even though the latest entries (such as DMC 5) would be better suited for those looking for a modern experience, the earlier games from the early 2000s have a charm of their own and also provide valuable story context.

Devil May Cry HD Collection combines the first three games in the series - Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition.

2 Mafia: Trilogy

The Mafia games are not just some of the best gangster games for the PS5, but overall some of the best games ever made in respect to this particular genre. Taking place across three distinct time periods, the games explore the world of the classy criminal underworld in incredible depth, all the while telling some memorable and cinematic stories. Mafia: Trilogy combines all three games the series has to offer, with Mafia: Definitive Edition being a complete remake of the original game and remasters in the case of the other entries.

1 Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection

There are 12 main installments in the Assassin's Creed franchise, which is quite a lot for a series that has been around for only 14 years. Over the course of so many games many different playable characters have been introduced, but Ezio and the games featuring him have a reputation of their own. In terms of storytelling ability, the Ezio trilogyAssassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations - is undefeated, and considered the best of the series by many.
