One incredibly talented artist decided to explore what FromSoftware's Bloodborne would look like as an animated series and the results are beyond impressive. Bloodborne's gothic horror style counts among its most endearing qualities. From the lighting and atmosphere to the bloody violence and Victorian-inspired landscape, this particular FromSoftware opus stands in a league of its own.
The more gifted members of the fan community show their appreciation in myriad ways, creating different types of art that makes the rounds online every so often. For example, popular Soulsborne YouTuber VaatiVidya crowd-funded a fan art book on Kickstarter that quickly exceeded its initial funding goal. Mods and demakes continue to impress as well, thanks to community members who constantly look for ways to expand upon the existing experience. And a gorgeous Bloodborne canvas painting that an artist shared over the summer left everyone longing for another trip to the Hunter's Dream. But what happens when the good Hunter ventures into the world of animation?
YouTuber AJBTime explored the possibilities in a video entitled, "What if Bloodborne was an Animated Series?" The posed question is pondered in the 26-second clip, wherein AJBTime depicted a "parody trailer" for a Bloodborne cartoon. The artist cited the works of Genndy Tartakovsky as their inspiration, which appears most evident in the Samurai Jack-esque animation style. All of the trailer's music and sound effects were taken directly from Bloodborne, too, ensuring a viewing experience that's as true to form as possible. Needless to say, AJBTime's efforts certainly sell the idea that this beloved PS4 exclusive would make for a perfect cartoon series. Check out the full video below:
AJBTime elegantly infused the influence of Tartakovsky's award-winning works into the visual core of Bloodborne. The creepy creatures and blood-soaked carnage remains on display, yet tinged with a colorful flair that unexpectedly fits well within the confines of FromSoftware's dark and gritty creation. Would anyone be upset if PlayStation Production pursued such a project?
While it may seem unlikely that Bloodborne will reemerge in animated form, the rumors continue to pile up with regards to its supposed sequel and PC port. Following Sony's acquisition of the studio, one bit of speculation claims Bluepoint Games may revive Bloodborne. And God of War's recently announced PC version seemingly gives credence to reports that the 2015 Soulsborne entry will eventually make the jump, as well.
Bloodborne is available now on PlayStation 4.
