Players will need to learn how to study the Caretaker's Footprints in Fortnite Season 8 to complete a Character Quest. More NPC quest-givers are being added to Fortnite as Season 8 progresses. As a surprise to many, Ariana Grande makes a return in Season 8. This time, she is one of the quest-giving NPCs players can speak to on the map. One of her challenges asks players to find and interact with a new environmental object, Caretaker's Footprints.
Originally, players were able to get a Fortnite Ariana Grande skin when she was first added to the game. Now, she appears with a new design and a few dark secrets as she transforms into a monster. Like the other NPCs, she will give players five challenges to complete for XP toward their Season 8 Battle Pass. In her second quest, players will need to study the Caretaker's footprints. The Caretaker is a large creature that can be found wandering around the map for a few moments. For this challenge, players will need to find two separate pairs of footprints and analyze them.
Ariana Grande's questline is called "Monster Hunter." Her five quests and their rewards appear below:
- Collect a record and place it in a turntable: 30K XP.
- Study the caretaker’s footprints: 30K XP.
- Collect symbols from eliminated Cube Monsters: 30K XP.
- Reveal the command symbol: 30K XP.
- Launch signal flares: 30K XP.
Players will be able to find Ariana Grande on the pier of Believer Beach. They will need to speak with her once they have open space in the Quest Log, and she will offer players the first challenge on her list. The Quest Log can also be used to reveal every NPC Location in Fortnite season 8, including Ariana Grande's, making it even easier for players to find her and accept these new challenges. Once the first quest is done, players will earn 30,000 XP and unlock access to the "Study the Caretaker's Footprints" challenge.
Caretaker Footprints in Fortnite Season 8 are usually found at Named Locations on the map. They have been studied in the following areas:
- Believer Beach
- Boney Burbs
- Catty Corner
- Corny Crops
- Craggy Cliffs
- Dirty Docks
- Holly Hedges
- Lazy Lake
- Misty Meadows
- Pleasant Park
- Retail Row
To complete this challenge most efficiently, players should start at Retail Row. The Retail Row Caretaker's Footprints are fairly close to another pair of footprints over at Catty Corner, which should allow players to complete this challenge in a single match.
Players will first want to land in Retail Row near the northern end of town by the water tower. As players approach the water tower, they will soon notice massive purple footprints on the ground. They can interact with these to complete the first task of the challenge.
To find the second pair of footprints, players will need to head south toward Catty Corner. North of the gas station, players will be able to find the second pair of footprints. Interacting with them will complete the challenge and will reward players with 30,000 XP toward leveling up their Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass. It will also unlock access to Ariana Grande's third challenge, "Collect symbols from eliminated Cube Monsters." Players will need to head to the Sideways to continue the "Monster Hunter" questline.
