A closer look at upcoming PlayStation game Little Devil Inside was given during Sony's October 2021 State of Play event. The game was initially slated to release across a range of consoles (including the now-defunct Nintendo Wii U), but details emerged that Little Devil Inside became a timed PlayStation exclusive last year - much to the dismay of many Kickstarter backers who helped fund the game.
First announced in 2015, Little Devil Inside is an action RPG from South Korean developer Neostream Interactive. Players will be cast into the role of a monster hunter hired to discover and battle against a series of supernatural phenomena across a Victorian England-themed world. Not much information has been revealed about the title in recent months, but its latest appearance was anticipated once it was revealed the October PlayStation State of Play would feature Little Devil Inside footage very soon.
During the latest PlayStation State of Play, an in-depth Little Devil Inside premiered, marking the game's first appearance since last year's PlayStation Showcase. The biggest reveal came in the form of the in-game world map and how travel works, as players are able to take part in simple interactions as they move around the overworld. This is notable, as Little Devil Inside features free-roam across the world map regardless of the active mission. Players can also travel the game world in vehicles like trains, on horseback, or simply navigate on foot. The new trailer also highlights a seemingly slower pace for the genre, hinting at its focus on narrative and atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was no release date mentioned, which will remain a mystery for now since its July 2021 launch was quietly delayed indefinitely.
Little Devil Inside was not the only indie game in attendance during the October PlayStation State of Play stream. Partially developed by Hyper Light Drifter co-designer Teddy Dief, We Are OFK is a game about starting a band in Los Angeles and dealing with all of the challenges that come trying to succeed in the music industry. While Little Devil Inside remains undated, We Are OFK is expected to release in 2022 for PlayStation and PC.
Little Devil Inside's latest gameplay trailer looks like an interesting premise, and waiting Kickstarter backers are likely excited to see its current state after a lack of public appearances for about a year. From what was shown during the latest PlayStation State of Play, Little Devil Inside could prove to be a very charming and unique indie game experience.
