Paramount+ has released a brand-new trailer for Star Trek Discovery season 4 during the show's panel at New York Comic Con. Discovery is the first Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise ran for three seasons in the early 2000s. The long-running sci-fi franchise received a reboot in 2009 with J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, which introduced the Kelvin Timeline and new versions of Kirk, Spock, and the Enterprise crew. In 2017, Star Trek returned to television and to its original timeline with Discovery, beginning a new era for the franchise on Paramount+ (formerly CBS All-Access).
Star Trek Discovery was initially set just a decade prior the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, but its season 2 finale sent the ship and her crew far into the future. In Star Trek Discovery season 3, Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), Captain Saru (Doug Jones) and the crew were met with not only a new version of the Federation, but also a new mystery to unravel: how an event called the Burn caused nearly all the dilithium in the universe to explode? In solving the mystery and saving the remaining dilithium, Burnham proved herself to this future incarnation of the Federation and was finally made Discovery's new captain. Now, Captain Burnham and her crew have a new threat to tackle in Discovery season 4.
During Star Trek Discovery season 4's panel at NYCC, a new trailer was released. It shows Burnham assuming her duties as Discovery's captain as she meets with the Federation about a new threat. Simply called the anomaly, the trailer doesn't give too much detail about this latest threat, but it does show that it's a bi problem for the Federation and its allies.
