Vampyr: 7 Best Locations, Ranked | ScreenRant

Vampyr is a popular horror-action RPG that follows Jonathan E. Reid, a former doctor turned vampire who must rid greater London of a mysterious infection that is turning citizens into rabid zombie ghouls. The locations in the game are divided into four districts that include the Docks, Pembroke Hospital, Whitechapel, and West End.

The four districts in Vampyr are subdivided by decreasing health statuses that include Sanitized, Healthy, Stable, Serious, Critical, and Hostile. For gamers looking to fight as many undead monsters as possible, Critical and Hostile locations are where much of the action comes from.

7 Southwark - Whitechapel

Demarcated by the ghastly presence of London's Mass Grave as well as Dawson's Ammunition factory, the foggy Southwark area of Whitechapel is where Jonathan begins his quest in earnest as a newly morphed Ekon vampire. With such an important area to his story arc, the location will be revisited time and again depending on various quests.

In addition to facing Cemetry Ghouls when encountering Edwina Cox or Paying Tribute to Victims while meeting Dyson Delaney, Southwark is a busy location that requires much activity from Jonathan to succeed. Moreover, the Southwark Bridge connects Whitechapel and The Docks, making for a strategic location for Jonathan to navigate two of the four districts in the stellar vampire video game.

6 Old Morgue - Pembroke Hospital

Also located beside Pembroke Hospital is the Old Morgue, an unnervingly atmospheric locale where the dead do not rest easy. When Dorothy Crane runs out of medicine, Jonathan will be sent to the Morgue during the Night Shift quest to find the Morgue Key and the proper medical supplies.

Although it's one of the first locations to visit in the game, the relentless onslaught of grisly blood-thirsty Skals marks a harrowing introduction to the game's vampiric onslaught. Be prepared to be met unkindly by Rogue and Dazzled Skals, which provide endless combat action to keep players engaged.

5 The Embankment Sewers - The Docks

When it comes to the deadly Docks in Vampyr, none are more frighteningly action-packed than The Embankment Sewers, which serve as a vampiric home base known as The Sewer Skalls Territory.

As sickening as it sounds, the waste-filled area littered with hungry infectious monsters provides all sorts of thrills and chills when Jonathan is forced to wade through the vicious throngs of the undead. If in need of a little R&R, Jonathan can visit the nearby Turquoise Turtle Pub to meet a series of unsavory characters. To wit, The Embankment Sewers also feature an area called Finsbury Park Reservoir, where Jonathan's final battle will take place. With some of the scariest video game monsters awaiting, the Embankment Sewers is no walk in the park.

4 Poplar Sewers - Pembroke Hospital

Upon finding Dr. Swansea's warning letter and list of rare vampire species, Jonathan will be sent toward the Poplar Sewers located below Pembroke Hospital. The dank, dark, and deeply disturbing locale is notable on its own, but Jonathan's strange interactions with a mysterious man lead to his key introduction of Dorothy Crane, one of the best and most important characters in Vampyr.

With three entrances spotted in the mission called A Rat in the Hospital, Jonathan will encounter a trio of aggressive flesh-starved Rogue Skals before taking on the ultra-frightening Sewer Beast final boss, one of Vampyr's scariest enemies.

3 Stonebridge Cemetery - Whitechapel

Also located in Whitechapel, Stonebridge Cemetry is easily one of the scariest and most heartbreaking locations in Vampyr. After spotting a vampire in the streets wearing his mother's jewelry, he chases the Skal into Stonebridge Cemetery only to realize that the monster is his own sister, Mary, whom he accidentally killed. The emotional interaction between the two and their mother Emelyne is as dramatic as any in the story.

Of course, cemeteries are inherently scary, but the sheer amount of vicious Skals on the attack once they spot Jonathan is what makes Stonebridge so unsettling. Even more disturbing, Mary will drink the blood of Vicar Joseph Larrabee and Jonathan will encounter an extremely sad widow named Hsiao Shun, combining horror and heartfelt pathos in one place.

2 Ascalon Club - West End

Without question, the shadowy Ascalon Club is one of the most important locations in Vampyr. Lady Ashbury will summon Jonathan to the West End locale, where he discovers the origin of the vampiric plague before taking on the formidable Morrigan in an epic battle.

Prior to battling Morrigan, Jonathan will encounter Lord Redgrave, leader of a secret society of vampires looking to perpetuate the bloodline by whatever means necessary. If Redgrave tastes blood and menacingly utters the word "delightful," Jonathan will sign his life away in blood as a soldier of the British Empire. Terrifying yet crucial to the plot, the Ascalon Club is one of the biggest set-pieces in the game.

1 Ashbury Mansion - West End

Once Jonathan defeats Morrigan, he must pursue Lady Ashbury to her gaudy West End estate in Finsbury Gate. The final stop in the game, it's here that Jonathan learns the true nature of the epidemic and resolves his primary conflict. In confronting Lady Ashbury's ghoulish maker William Marshal, Jonathan will either flee with Lady Ashbury to find a cure or remain holed-up as a quarantined Skal.

Beyond the location of the final resolution and the importance that it has to the plot of the game, the jarring juxtaposition between the upscale mansion interiors and gruesome vampiric onslaughts make the location feel both welcoming and unsafe at once. Mansions are supposed to be highly secure, yet Ashbury's estate is teeming with slavering Skals that will surely alarm expert and tyro gamers alike.
