Genshin Impact: Best Team Compositions for the Spiral Abyss (Version 2.2)

For Genshin Impact players looking to beat the Spiral Abyss, team composition is extremely important. Reaching the final floor of the Spiral Abyss is a milestone for late-game Genshin Impact players, and being able to do it every reset is a great way to earn Primogems consistently. However, completing the final stages of the Abyss, especially with three Stars in each Chamber, can be extremely difficult without the right team.

While players may feel like they need a full team of 5-Star Genshin Impact characters to do well in the Spiral Abyss, this isn’t true. As long as players have at least eight built characters that can synergize with each other, achieving good results in the Abyss isn’t as hard as it may seem. Here are what team compositions have proven to work best in the Spiral Abyss as of Genshin Impact Version 2.2.

Each floor from 9-12 in the Spiral Abyss has a different Ley Line Disorder, which can either positively or negatively affect the player. If a Ley Line Disorder grants a Pyro boost, players will want to use their best Pyro DPS characters. If a Ley Line Disorder has a function like Corruption, which damages players over time based on their damage dealt, they’ll want a good healer on the team. Players may want to select their teams based on these disorders; however, a really strong team can usually succeed no matter what the disorder is.

Data about the most popular team compositions for achieving a perfect score on the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact is available online, which serves as a great starting point for which teams are most successful. Before going into the Spiral Abyss, there are a few characters that players should definitely have built.

The 4-Star units Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Bennett are used very frequently in Abyss teams, likely thanks to their ability to deal high damage while being easily obtained units. In terms of 5-Stars, functional units like Kazuha and Venti are great for CC, as most of the Abyss involves dealing with large hordes of enemies at once. Zhongli and the Raiden Shogun are the best 5-Star support units, as they’re able to assist while off the field. Finally, players should make sure they’re building any 5-Star units they have that are known for their DPS abilities, like Ayaka, Ganyu, and Hu Tao.

All Floors 9-12 of the Spiral Abyss have the same most popular team compositions. The most common team composition for the first half is Xiangling, Xingqiu, Bennett, and the Raiden Shogun. For the Second Half, it’s Venti, Ganyu, Diona, and Mona.

If players are looking to build teams without any 5-Star units, the Chinese National Team is a great composition to work from. This team consists of Xiangling, Bennett, Xingqiu, and Chongyun. Bennett functions as the healer and damage booster, Xiangling provides Pyro damage with her ult that can synergize with Xingqiu’s Hydro to do massive Vaporize damage, and Chongyun functions as a stable Main DPS.

Overall, nearly any team of well-built characters can do a good job in the Spiral Abyss. However, the most successful team compositions include at least one Healer, usually one who can provide a damage bonus like Diona or Bennett, one off-field Support who can provide Elemental synergy, including characters with Elemental Bursts like Xiangling or Raiden, or CC function, like Mona, Venti, or Sucrose, and two DPS units who have good Elemental synergy, usually either Freeze or Vaporize for the highest damage. With this knowledge in mind, players should be able to work with the units they have to form teams that can clear even the hardest content in Genshin Impact.
