A recent announcement has revealed the delay of Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 1 and details early access to Call of Duty: Warzone's new Caldera map. The recently-released Vanguard brings players back to World War II's most infamous fronts for a first-person shooter experience that includes a single-player campaign, competitive multiplayer and a cooperative Zombies mode. Vanguard will integrate with Call of Duty: Warzone as well, bringing big changes to the franchise's ever-evolving battle royale installment.

Launched back in March 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone is a massive battle royale title that ties into each traditional Call of Duty release. The game began as part of 2019's Modern Warfare, and later entered a long-running integration with 2020's Black Ops Cold War. This connection takes the form of shared updates which add new weapons and playable Operators to both titles at once to create a unified experience for franchise devotees. Warzone's massive map of Verdansk has also changed dramatically throughout the game's life, with the connection to Black Ops Cold War sparking a dramatic shift to a 1980s version of the map. The upcoming integration between Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard is said to be the most dramatic connection yet, with a new World War II-era Pacific map called Caldera soon replacing Verdansk and tying into the series' newest installment.

An announcement from Call of Duty, via Twitter, details the upcoming integration between Warzone and Vanguard.  Season 1 of Vanguard has been delayed from December 2 to December 8, which has therefore pushed back the release of Warzone's World War II-themed Caldera map. Gamers who own Vanguard will receive exclusive access to the battle royale map for 24 hours starting December 8, meaning that the rest of the Warzone playerbase will be able to experience the new map starting December 9. The December 8 update will also bring new maps, modes, weapons and gear to Vanguard's multiplayer and an update to the game's Zombies mode. Meanwhile, Warzone's Caldera map will bring with it new vehicles and a Vanguard Royale mode.

In addition to Caldera itself, Call of Duty: Warzone's integration with Vanguard will bring many more changes to the battle royale shooter. December 8 will introduce the RICOCHET anti-cheat system to the game, which will hopefully help to combat the title's ongoing hacker problem. RICOCHET will later be added to Vanguard, creating a unified front to prevent hackers from plaguing the series. Engine updates introduced in Vanguard will come to Warzone, too, which should improve the 2020 title with upgraded sounds and performance. World War II-era weapons will also be introduced to Warzone, expanding players' arsenals and completing the 1940s immersion.

While Warzone has integrated with two previous titles, its crossover into Call of Duty: Vanguard seems to be particularly ambitious. The battle royale's new Caldera map is a lush Pacific island filled with caves and small villages, which is a huge change from the urban streets of Verdansk. New weapons, maps and vehicles will also reinvigorate both titles with fresh content for fans to explore. While the launch of Vanguard's Season 1 has been delayed by a few days, gamers will be able to experience the new Call of Duty era on December 8.
