Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Locks Exclusive Content Behind Chipotle Burrito

Chipotle has a new Tony Hawk burrito that comes with an exclusive Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2's warehouse demo as a free side order. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a remake of the 1999 and 2000 classic skateboarding games which featured legendary skater Tony Hawk himself, and the warehouse is among its most iconic levels.

The Tony Hawk remaster was announced in May and is scheduled to release on September 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Along with classic levels from the first two games in the series, it will contain almost every song from the original soundtrack, plus a lot of new additions to boot. Players who pre-order Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 will also get early access to a demo of the game's warehouse level.

Only a few people who purchase the Tony Hawk burrito will be shredding more than lettuce. According to Thrillist, only the first 2,000 customers who order the Tony Hawk burrito using the Chipotle mobile app or the Chipotle website will receive a code via email that can be used to access the early demo. That means that the codes will likely be gone by the end of today, but hungry gamers can order a Tony Hawk burrito from Chipotle until August 14th.

The reports are in, and the general consensus from those who have tasted Tony Hawk's burrito have deemed it delicious. That's not too much of a surprise seeing as the burrito's ingredients aren't anything groundbreaking. Brown rice, black beans, chicken, tomatillo-red chili salsa, and guac are all that make up Tony's limited edition burrito, which does little in the way of setting the burrito apart from the rest of Chipotle's menu. It's even less special if you are one of the multitudes of customers who order the burrito and aren't rewarded with a demo code.

Regardless, the Chipotle and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 cross-promo is pretty nostalgic and is something other restaurants should get behind. It's reminiscent of when Pizza Hut offered its PlayStation 1 demo disk promo. This sort of mixed media may have been clunky and limited in the past due to the physical ramifications of gaming, but now that gaming can be done almost entirely digitally there isn't much getting in the way of these cross-promotions. Obviously, the 2,000 code limit bites for those who want a demo code more than a burrito, but it also gives a sense of urgency which helps sell more Tony Hawk burritos.
