DC: The 10 Most Powerful Henchmen | ScreenRant

Power comes in many forms. It could be strength in numbers, great wealth, or even through meta-human abilities. The villains of the DC Universe look to some of the most powerful henchmen available to back them up on their dangerous and deadly missions.

Of course, the power of these individuals and groups results in them becoming a difficult obstacle for the heroes of the comic book landscape to overcome. It's why these vigilantes so often work alongside one another, as there are henchmen out there who aren't just simply cannon fodder to be bested while the antagonist tries to escape.

10 The Court Of Owls

The Court Of Owls is a group in its own right but can also be used as a name to reflect the members of the underground society. The henchmen are part of this corrupt group and are sometimes referred to as Talons as well. The Court Of Owls holds almost unlimited power.

Because of the influence that they have in Gotham, their strength lies in the fact that anyone could be working for them. They have an enormous amount of wealth and therefore their henchmen also boast state-of-the-art gear. They are quite the terrifying force for any vigilante to try and face off against.

9 Joker's Gang

There's also great power in fear and strength in numbers. For the Joker's Gang, they really rule the streets thanks to the fear that the Clown Prince Of Crime inspires. Arriving in mass numbers, these faceless crooks might not be well trained or even particularly skilled. But they are so powerful because they act as a singular, merciless mob, who seem to operate almost like a cult for their beloved boss. Batman might be able to dispatch Joker's Gang easily, but a narrative like Joker War goes to show how much chaos they can really cause.

8 Sinestro Corps

In regards to wielding fear, no one utilizes the power of being scared better than the Sinestro Corps. Although the other ring bearers operate in a similar manner, those who utilize the yellow power rings operate under Sinestro. He even named the Corps after himself!

With these cosmic powers available at their very touch, the strength of the Sinestro Corps is almost unmatched. Even the Green Lanterns have had trouble policing this terrifying unit of morally bankrupt aliens, and as henchmen go they are some of the most difficult to defeat.

7 Deathstroke

Sometimes, a villain's henchmen can be one individual and in DC Comics, no one is more capable of getting the job done alone better than Slade Wilson. Although Deathstroke has his own army at his command, he has also operated as a right-hand man to some of the worst criminals in the world.

The benefit of Deathstroke (much like Marvel's Taskmaster) is not only his malicious skills with a blade but his ability to train people and improve upon the protection around a villain. Wilson is able to combat the likes of Batman, but he is equally capable of command, a useful skill for someone like Lex Luthor or Ra's al Ghul has utilized in their battles against their various enemies. One of the best examples of Deathstroke being an all-in-one henchman is when Dr. Light hired the assassin to battle the Justice League in Identity Crisis, where Slade vanquished the formidable team of Hawkman, Green Arrow, the Flash, Zatanna, and others in under a minute.

6 Atlanteans

Aquaman might have commanded his vast armies to conquer kingdoms and defend their homeland, but with Ocean Master at the help of command Atlanteans and other societies beneath the ocean have been weaponized in a far more antagonistic way.

Those who live underwater have a variety of skills that demonstrate their power in comparison to mankind. Advanced technology and elite training only help these warriors to become more dangerous on the battlefield. Wars could be won with these so-called henchmen with rulers of Atlantis like Aquaman being born off the backs of these armies.

5 Task Force X

Amanda Waller is being portrayed more and more like an antagonist and she has her own henchmen at her command. Task Force X has been in operation for some time, with vicious criminals from across DC threatened with a bomb in their head, forcing them to work for the A.R.G.U.S. operative.

Waller's henchmen have been nicknamed the Suicide Squad because of the nature of the missions they must embark on. There's a desperation in the way that they fight, conscious of the ticking grenade implanted in their skull. This drive to impress makes these henchmen more powerful than most.

4 Dark Knights

The god-bat Barbatos enlisted his lieutenant The Batman Who Laughs to create a team of corrupted Batmen from across the Dark Multiverse. Known as the Dark Knights these henchmen were despicable in almost every sense and boasted powers of great darkness.

The twisted nature of the characters that made up the Dark Knights was enough of a threat, but the group also acted as a reflection of Earth's greatest heroes, especially some of the greatest leaders of the Justice League. The Drowned, a variant of Batwoman, utilized her aquatic gifts for instance while Dawnbreaker preferred to fight with his green Power Ring.

3 Bane

Another antagonist that has operated as both a leader and a henchman, Bane is often employed by the criminals of Gotham City as the muscle of the group. It's difficult for any hero to match up to the sheer strength of Bane, much less the invulnerability of the former wrestler.

Bane is easily manipulated which is definitely a plus for most criminals looking to employ someone who can act as a living tank, without them asking for too much in return. Bane has impressively also managed to sustain himself as one of Batman's coolest villains and biggest rivals.

2 Starro's Enforcers

Starro is a huge threat himself and almost unconquerable. But the starfish from the cosmos also uses tiny versions of himself to latch on to the faces of humans, forcing them to act to his every whim. Henchmen can therefore be created at a moment's notice and reproduced exponentially without much effort at all.

Without any fear or any choice whatsoever, these henchmen will serve their master, in spite of the threat they could be facing. Once again the power of numbers plays a factor, but actually removing the human element also allows Starro to dominate Earth.

1 Brainiac's Legion

Brainiac has come to create his own army through the alien technologies he has picked up conquering other planets. Often Brainiac is depicted with a robotic legion at his disposal, an army that doesn't feel any pain, takes direction without question, and is almost undefeatable due to their sheer power, intelligence, and numbers.

The technology they operate with results in them becoming a threat that arrives in masses, overwhelming Earth's heroes with equipment they simply can't best. Once again these henchmen work like an army, allowing Brainiac to overtake whole galactic systems. Brainiac's alien hive-mind has been effective in numerous battles, and it takes the effort of DC's most powerful metahuman, Superman, to stop him. And sometimes, that's not enough, as the Man of Steel frequently calls on the aid to stop Brainiac and his alien brigade from conquering Earth.
