Fortnite: 10 Scariest Skins | ScreenRant

Any seasoned or even beginner player knows that Fortnite features some of the most extensive character customization options around. While the game itself is packed with bright colors and exciting gameplay, gamers also have access to a wide variety of creative character skins.

With Fortnitemares 2021 in full swing, it's only fitting to take a moment to look back on some of the scariest character skins Fortnite fans have seen to date. Shockingly, some of the scariest skins to ever be featured in the Fortnite Item Shop aren't even Halloween exclusives.

10 Teef Skin

This Epic Outfit was released as a part of Fortnite's Final Reckoning set in October of 2019, just a few days before the beginning of Fortnitemares 2019. The Teef Skin is thoroughly unsettling, giving players the ability to play as a pink blob monster in a prison-inspired black and white striped jumpsuit.

This monster seemingly has no eyes and instead has a gaping mouth with crooked teeth filling its entire face. Judging by appearances, it seems that the Teef Skin is a great fit for players with an endless appetite for that Victory Royale.

9 Peely Bone Skin

Unlike the Teef Skin, the Peely Bone Skin was released on November 1, 2019 while Fortnitemares 2019 was in full effect. Therefore, it is no surprise that this Epic Outfit, released as part of the Banana Bunch set, is incredibly creepy.

The Peely Bone Skin features a relatively tame banana costume on one side, but the other half of this outfit depicts the design team's vision of a skeletonized banana. While the idea of a banana having any bones is already upsetting, the Peely Bone Skin also suggests that bananas have brains, and those brains are situated at the bottom of the banana rather than the top.

8 Chaos Agent Skin

Unsurprisingly, Fortnite's Final Reckoning set from October 2019 introduced players to more unsettling outfits than just the Teef Skin. The Chaos Agent Skin was released as a part of this set the day after the release of the Teef Skin as another Epic Outfit.

Fortnite's Chaos Agent Skin is spooky enough at first glance, featuring an uncomfortable combination of a gas mask and bug-eyes. However, this outfit becomes even scarier if players look a bit deeper. This skin suggests that the Chaos Agent depicted is some sort of creature made entirely of liquid, using the already frightening mask and a full-body suit to contain its goopy form.

7 Big Mouth Skin

For some reason, Fortnite's design team seemed to be very fond of gaping mouths in 2019. Much like the Teef Skin, the Big Mouth Skin is an Epic Outfit released in October 2019 with a face comprised entirely of one big mouth. However, the Big Mouth Skin easily features the biggest mouth seen to date.

The Big Mouth Skin's mouth is actually so big that its teeth continue to emerge from the top of this skin's torso. This skin was released as a part of Fortnite's Fearsome Freaks set and continues to be a popular choice for players who are fond of a monstrous look.

6 Kane Skin

While Fortnite's annual event for Halloween, Fortnitemares, is a great source of spooky skins, some of the scariest Fortnite skins have actually been a result of other holiday events. The Kane Skin, released as an Epic Outfit in the December 2019 Nightmare Yule set, is just one example of a horrifying skin released during a generally sweet holiday season.

The Kane Skin features a spindly monster made out of candy canes with jagged teeth, metal claws, and some sort of mechanical eye that seems to see everything. The Kane Skin could certainly pop up in players' Yuletide nightmares.

5 Mincemeat Skin

Yet another scary Fortnite skin released during a generally comfy holiday season is the Mincemeat Skin, released in late November 2020 as an Epic Outfit in the Baker's Nightmare set. The entire Baker's Nightmare set is inspired by classic mincemeat pies, but the Fortnite design team gave this holiday classic a scary twist.

Since the Mincemeat Skin represents an animated mincemeat pie, players can assume that the mincemeat making up this skin's body is fairly old. Old meat rots, and it is clear from the flies circling the Mincemeat Skin's head that this skin is very rotten.

4 The Devourer Skin

Fortnite's The Devourer Skin is actually based on the sea monster The Devourer, which roamed around the Battle Royale map for a large part of Fortnite's Season 9. Players who were particularly fond of this giant, one-eyed monster were given the opportunity to acquire this Frozen Series Outfit as a part of the Polar Legends Pack Bundle in late December 2019.

Fortnite players who were around to witness The Devourer, Cattus, ravaging the Battle Royale map with green laser beams and super speed and strength are sure to feel a shiver of fear seeing this skin out on the battlefield.

3 Bun Bun Skin

As evidenced by the Kane skin, animated candy is a surprisingly spooky concept. Bun Bun is another example of this concept, allowing players to dress up as a creepy chocolate bunny while they compete. The Bun Bun Skin was released as an Epic Outfit in the Choco Set in April 2020.

Unlike most scary Fortnite skins, Bun Bun hovers confusingly between creepy and cute, which is perfect for players who like to be a little bit sweet and a little bit scary. Bun Bun features a head split into two pieces by a big mouth full of sharp, chocolate teeth, and seems to ooze sugary cream from various parts of its chocolate body. While sweet cream alone is typically a positive thing, this seems to be Bun Bun's version of blood.

2 Bendie Skin

The Bendie Skin is a uniquely scary skin that was not released as part of any particular holiday celebration. Fortnite's Bendie Skin is a Rare Outfit released as a part of the Hot Air set in March 2019.

This skin is clearly inspired by the tube men or 'skydancers' commonly used to advertise for various businesses. While these inflatable beings are very common in advertising, the Bendie Skin features some of the most upsetting aspects of these balloons. Players who manage to equip the Bendie Skin's dead eyes and disconcerting balloon body are certain to terrify their enemies before even opening fire.

1 Curdle Scream Leader Skin

Fortnite first introduced players to a twisted version of the Cuddle Team Leader Skin with the Spooky Team Leader Skin released in November 2018. However, this skin was still leaned closer to cute than creepy.

Fortunately for Fortnite fans aiming to frighten the competition, Fortnite released a new version of a terrifying Cuddle Team Leader Skin as the Curdle Scream Leader Skin on October 6, 2021 as a Rare Outfit in the Fortnite's Monster set. This skin is a grotesque combination of the Cuddle Team Leader Skin and the Tomato Head Skin, inspired by Frankenstein's Monster.
