10 Best Weapons From Deep Rock Galactic, Ranked | ScreenRant

Deep Rock Galactic is a game that combines the gameplay of Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 with a pseudo-Minecraft-meets-Lord-of-the-Rings-in-the-Future aesthetic. The game offers an arguably more robust weapon list than Back 4 Blood's as there are enough in the game to offer players plenty of different gameplay options.

Recently, the developers at Ghost Ship Games have released a massive, free update called the Rival Incursion Update, that includes new primary weapons for each class. How good each weapon is depends on how it feels to use, as well as mechanically whether it gets the job done fighting off hordes of Glyphids while mining.

10 DRAK-25 Plasma Carbine

For the Scout class, the Rival Incursion update adds an automatic plasma rifle. This weapon fires quickly and does decent damage, but most importantly, it doesn’t require a reload. Instead, this weapon will overheat and need to cool off, which can be done by switching out rather than taking the time to reload that other weapons need.

The sound design is somewhat satisfying and the lack of need to reload is useful, but unfortunately, it doesn’t do much against the larger Glyphids. The DRAK-25 Plasma Carbine feels only marginally better than the default Deepcore GK2 for the Scout.

9 M1000 Classic

This weapon has the longest range in the game. Its hip-fire functions like a classic repeater, while holding the fire button enters a zoom mode that has the high power and accuracy of a sniper rifle.

This weapon’s weakness is its lack of ability to fight back reliably when getting overwhelmed by large groups of smaller Glyphids, but Scout players can compensate by escaping with their Grappling Hook or switching to a secondary. The M1000 Classic is still the preferred weapon for many Scout Mains.

8 "Hurricane" Guided Rocket System

The Gunner’s newest weapon in the Rival Incursion update is the Hurricane rocket launcher. Players familiar with Half-Life 2’s RPG will recognize its functionality, as every rocket fired follows the aiming reticle until it hits a target.

It boasts a large magazine size, with each rocket doing decent on-hit damage as well as area damage. The Hurricane has a neat gimmick and is fun to use, but mechanically its delayed firing and travel time makes it fall slightly short of the other Gunner primaries.

7 "Thunderhead" Heavy Autocannon

The Thunderhead does reliable damage, is decently accurate, and does splash damage, making it useful for dealing with groups of enemies as well as damaging the weak points of larger ones. Where this weapon falls short is its need to reload, and on top of that, it has one of the longest reload times in the game.

However, this is a fault that can be overlooked by taking the Born Ready and Resupplier perks, as both allow for ways to automatically reload unequipped weapons. Even with its faults, the Thunderhead is still preferred by some Gunner players.

6 "Warthog" Auto 210

The Warhog auto shotgun's close range and rapid-fire rate make this weapon useful, especially when getting overwhelmed with a swarm of bug creatures.

The Turret Whip modification is a great mechanical game-changer that allows the Engineers to combo with their LMG Gun Platform turrets for big bursts of area damage, adding a semi-ranged option for the close-ranged shotgun. Despite it being the default primary weapon, the Warthog is a mainstay for many Engineer mains.

5 Corrosive Sludge Pump

As part of the Rival Incursion update, the Driller gets a new primary, the Corrosive Sludge Pump. This weapon fires sludge projectiles that coat enemies, damaging them over time, and charged shots that can cover the floor in sludge. Where this weapon excels is its ability to cover large areas in persistent, hazardous goo that slows and damages enemies.

It’s fun to use and at once satisfying and horrifying to watch Glyphids be slowly disintegrated by the sludge; as all space-faring dwarves know, and to quote Starship Troopers, which the game takes inspiration from, "the only good bug is a dead bug." The main drawback with this weapon is that it can be difficult to deal with flying enemies as the projectile arcs and is slow-moving.

4 Cryo Cannon

The Cryo Cannon has many positives; it does decent damage on its own, it freezes enemies making them take more damage, and it doesn’t require a reload. There's nothing quite so satisfying as freezing a Praetorian and finishing it off with a Gimli-style ax throw. Additionally, where the Cryo Cannon beats out most other weapons is its reliable ability to deal with Mactera, the flying Glyphid variants.

Once enough cryo status is built up by spraying them, flying enemies will freeze and instantly shatter and die when they hit the ground. This makes the Cryo Cannon the best primary weapon available to the Driller for dealing with airborne enemies.

3 Deepcore 40mm PGL

This grenade launcher is the default secondary for the engineer class and is great for clearing waves and dealing high damage to specials. The Fat Man overclock makes this weapon especially powerful and fun to use, turning the grenade launcher into a mini-nuke launcher, though players should be careful of friendly fire when playing co-op.

The only place this weapon is lacking is its relatively low ammo capacity to offset its high damage. That aside, this weapon earns its place as one of the best weapons in Deep Rock Galactic.

2 LOK-1 Smart Rifle

The Rival Incursion update adds the LOK-1 Smart Rifle to the Engineer’s arsenal. This gun enters a state of scanning when holding down the fire button, locking on to multiple targets and then firing a burst of projectiles that fly toward all the targets on release.

The bullets can even be aimed in such a way as to curve behind the target from behind, making the larger Glyphids’ weak points easier to hit. This new addition is great especially for Engineer players who like to kick back and let their weapons do the work for them.

1 Breach Cutter

On release, the Breach Cutter was an instant favorite for Engineer mains, and its power has stayed consistent even through this most recent update. Its ability to sweep through waves of smaller Glyphids while also dealing high damage to larger threats such as the Praetorian or Opressor makes it an easy pick for most Engineer mains.

With mods like Triple Stack and the Return to Sender overclock, Breach Cutter is hands down the best weapon in the game.
