Joe Coleman just had his first one-on-one date with lead Michelle Young on The Bachelorette season 18, and after their magical day together, it seems that Joe and Michelle could be a perfect match. Even though Nate Olukoya has also developed a strong connection with Michelle, there are many reasons why Joe would fit better into Michelle’s life. Joe has become a clear frontrunner among the cast, and it’s not hard to see why. He and Michelle share an easy chemistry and have a lot in common. Michelle and Joe could have a beautiful life together if she decides to give him her final rose.
When Joe first stepped out of the limo on night one, there was some initial drama after Michelle realized that he seemed all too familiar to her. It turns out she had slid into her DMs a few years earlier, but after a few brief messages, he ghosted her on the phone. With that said, she accepted Joe’s explanation and apology for their rocky first interaction. When the show moved to Michelle and Joe’s home state of Minnesota, the two had their first one-on-one date. Joe opened up about the hardships he faced when he injured his foot and shared how difficult it can be to have your whole identity wrapped up in one thing.
Joe’s struggles struck a chord with Michelle. She admitted that her feelings for him were growing, and he rocketed ahead as one of her frontrunners of the season. Michelle and Joe are compatible in a lot of specific ways that would make it easy for them to build a life together. Michelle wants a relationship like her parents have, and Joe is someone she could have that with.
But Joe isn’t Michelle’s only frontrunner this season. Nayte has also risen to the top of her cast of men, and the two have developed electric chemistry. Michelle had a one-on-one date with Nayte as well when she was in Minnesota, so it appears that she sees him as a real contender. However, Nayte is more flashy than Joe, and some viewers get possible “player” vibes from him. Nayte might not be the type to settle down in Minnesota, which is what Michelle is ultimately looking for.
There are, of course, other men still vying for Michelle’s heart on The Bachelorette, but Joe and Nayte appear to be her current top two in the competition. Nayte may make Michelle’s heart flutter, but she’s more likely to find lasting happiness with Joe. Though there’s still more left in Michelle’s journey to love, there are many reasons why Joe may be the right man for her.
