Marvel's Avengers Infinity War Black Widow Skin Gets Yelena's Vest

The newest Marvel Cinematic Universe skin coming to Marvel's Avengers, inspired by Avengers: Infinity War, gives Black Widow blonde hair and Yelena Belova's green vest. Crystal Dynamics' multiplayer Marvel title features an ever-expanding roster of playable superheroes, including fan-favorites like Iron Man, Hulk, and Black Panther. While the game has not been particularly well-received since its launch, Marvel's Avengers' MCU costumes have received high praise for their accuracy to the characters' live-action designs.

When Marvel's Avengers was released back in September 2020, the game lacked any cosmetic skins inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The iconic attire quickly became a highly-requested addition, and eventually, Crystal Dynamics began releasing MCU-themed cosmetics for the game's cast of heroes. However, the game's microtransaction system has also received a great amount of criticism from fans, with Marvel's Avengers' most popular skins being restricted to the title's Marketplace. Only real-world money can be spent in the Marketplace, meaning valuable items like Marvel Cinematic Universe skins can not be earned by simply playing the game. Marvel's Avengers' cosmetic skins cost $3,000 total, with $14 MCU outfits making up a fair portion of this enormous lump sum.

Black Widow's outfit from Avengers: Infinity War, which sees the superspy don a green vest belonging to her adoptive sister Yelena Belova, has been revealed by Marvel's Avengers via Twitter. 2018's epic MCU crossover film sees Natasha Romanoff, better known as the Black Widow, on the run from authorities alongside Falcon and an unkempt Captain America. Her iconic red hair is cut short and dyed blonde, and her typical black stealth suit is covered by a green tactical vest. The hero's 2021 solo film Black Widow later reveals that the memorable green vest actually belongs to Yelena, Romanoff's adopted sister who is also a skilled spy. Marvel's Avengers fans will be able to purchase Black Widow's Infinity War outfit from the Marketplace starting December 16.

While Marvel's Avengers's aggressive microtransactions and lack of endgame content have turned off many gamers, Crystal Dynamics continues to support the cooperative superhero game. Recently the developer released Klaw Raid: Discordant Sound, a highly challenging boss raid that requires a four-player team of skilled max-level gamers to conquer. Marvel's Avengers also added Spider-Man exclusively to PlayStation versions of the game, with the wall-crawling hero coming with his own storyline and unique traversal abilities. The recent update also implemented a new Shipments system, which allows players to unlock select cosmetic items using Units that are earned purely through gameplay.

Crystal Dynamics still has some notable issues to solve in Marvel's Avengers, but the title's line-up of Marvel Cinematic Universe skins has received genuine praise from fans. Earth's Mightiest Heroes' beloved live-action appearances are translated into the digital world with great accuracy, allowing gamers to live out their MCU fantasies within the game. With Captain America's Infinity War skin already present in the game, Black Widow's unique outlaw appearance serves as a fitting tribute to Yelena Belova and her beloved green vest.
