Pokémon BDSP: How To Find (& Catch) Ditto | Screen Rant

Ditto is the ultimate Pokémon to use for breeding in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlas it can breed with almost any Pokémon in the game. Ditto is a Pokémon that was part of the original 151 Pokémon featured in the release of the Red and Green versions, and since that time it has become a staple for all trainers. In addition to being able to breed with almost any Pokémon, Ditto is so unique that it has its own egg group.

One of the reasons why Ditto is so interesting to use in battle is because it knows the move Transform. Transform allows Ditto to copy the looks and moves of its opponent, but it only has five uses of each move that its opponent knows. Additionally, Ditto copies all stat changes and the EVs of the opponent, except for the opponent's HP EVs. With an Ability Patch in Pokémon BDSP, Ditto can unlock its Hidden Ability, Imposter. Imposter eliminates Ditto's need to use Transform as a turn in battle by transforming Ditto into its opponent as soon as it enters the battle. Imposter allows Ditto to mimic its opponent from the start of the battle, making a Ditto with a Hidden Ability even harder to counter.

Before players can get their own Ditto, they'll have to beat the game and acquire the National Dex. Afterward, Ditto can be found in one of two places in the Sinnoh region. Thanks to the quality of life improvements, Ditto can be found in the Grand Underground in Pokémon BDSP in both the Stargleam Cavern and Dazzling Cave. The second location where Ditto can be found is on Route 218 with the use of a Poké Radar.

Using the Poké Radar is a more difficult method of catching Ditto because it is a rarer Pokémon to find. However, trainers can possibly get a higher IV Ditto if they can chain Ditto finds one after another. After finding and capturing the first Ditto, head to the next patch of moving grass that is furthest away from the trainer's location. The more trainers chain Ditto finds with the Poké Radar the more likely they're able to find a Ditto with higher IVs. Keep in mind, it is difficult to find a Ditto in Pokémon BDSP with perfect IVs, and it takes a long time to chain the required Dittos. After finding 100 Dittos they can possibly find a Ditto with perfect IVs.

Nintendo has confirmed the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be compatible with Pokémon Home in 2022. At that time, many trainers will be able to transfer their perfect IV Dittos over from Pokémon Sword and ShieldSword and Shield have in-game events where players can catch perfect IV Dittos in Dynamax caves, making it much easier to transfer the transforming Pokémon from these games to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
