10 Strongest Female Marvel Characters

Although the Marvel world can seem oversaturated with powerful male characters, the movies, television series, and the original comics have some of the strongest female characters ever written. Not only are these women physically strong and have powers that we can only dream of, they are also emotionally and intellectually superior. The unfortunate thing is that the Marvel movies have only now caught on to the fact that fans want to see more of these capable female characters. Hopefully, we continue to see much more of them as more Marvel films come out.

The following list contains some of the characters we hope to see more of. This is because they are, without a doubt, some of the most powerful female characters ever. Without further ado, here are 10 Strongest Female Marvel Characters.

10 Jean Grey/The Phoenix

Even without the enhancement of the Phoenix Force, Jean Grey is one of the most powerful characters ever written. She is exceptionally talented when using her sometimes unpredictable telekinetic and telepathic powers. Her mutant ability is on par with that of Professor Charles Xavier and even exceeds his when merged with the otherworldly Phoenix Force.

Jean's telepathic power allows her to move literally anything with her mind. This means that she can take airplanes out of the sky, manipulate people in any direction, and even rip their skin from their bodies.

We will see a lot more of Jean in the upcoming Dark Phoenix film where she's played by Sophie Turner.

9 Black Widow

Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow, may not have the telepathic and telekinetic powers of the likes of Jean Grey, but she's a master spy. Her time with spy organizations across the globe, as well as working with various masterminds, has given her a skill-set that few Marvel characters have. Therefore, she can easily outsmart even the most intimidating characters. Black Widow's looks make it even easier for her, as many fall under her spell.

Additionally, this original Avengers member is a master at martial arts. Although she tends to use various weapons and high-tech gadgets worthy of Iron-Man's approval, her real weapon is her body.

8 Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch should definitely be on a list of the most powerful characters of all time. After all, there is basically no limit to her powers. Although the Avengers movies have shown Wanda Maximoff's mutant magic in action, they haven't explored the full range of her abilities. Her comic book counterpart gets to show them off far more.

In the comics, she's able to rebuild reality as we know it in order to suit her own desires. And she does this with a just a bit of fury, minimal concentration and uttering three little words. This changes every character in the Marvel Universe as well as all of their storylines. You don't get stronger than that. In fact, it's a bit outlandish.

7 Spider-Woman

Spider-Woman is basically the combination of Peter Parker's Spider-Man and Natasha Romanoff's Black Widow. Not only does she have every power that Spider-Man has, but she's also a super spy and private investigator. This makes her physically strong, as well as tactically and intellectually powerful.

Although Spider-Woman has a rather convoluted origin story that has changed her a few times over the years, she's always portrayed as a powerful character. Spider-Woman, AKA Jessica Drew, has had many experiences with both S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA. They've made her more worldly than her famous male counterpart. Unlike Drew, Peter Parker's intellectual gifts can be stunted by naivety.

6 Spectrum

Spectrum is one of those Marvel superheroes that most fans don't know about. However, she's one of the ones everyone should know. This is because she's one of the most powerful characters in all of Marvel.

Spectrum, AKA Monica Rambeau, was a former New Orleans Harbor Patrol Lieutenant who received exposure to extra-dimensional energy and gained the power to turn into any form of energy along the electromagnetic spectrum. This means that she can fly at the speed of light, shoot lasers, and turn herself into one.

Although Spectrum has been around for a while, she hasn't made it into the movies. Chances are, she'd work well on screen. Here's hoping that we get to see this powerful superhero in action soon.

5 Emma Frost

Similar to Jean Grey, Emma Frost, AKA The White Queen, has telekinetic powers that allow her to create hallucinations in other people's minds. She can also understand exactly what anyone is thinking as long as she is in close enough proximity to them. In the comics, and in X-Men: First Class, this proves to be a beneficial skill as she can easily manipulate and distract her opponents.

Frost can also transform her body into a diamond form. While in this state, she is completely impervious to other psychic attacks that could otherwise render her useless. On top of this, her diamond form gives her enhanced strength and durability.

4 Storm

Wouldn't it be nice to change the weather at will? To turn a rainy day into a beach-worthy one? Well, this iconic X-Men character can. Although, to say that making it sunny was the extent to Storm's powers would be a colossal understatement. Depending on which canon you follow, Storm can literally wipe-out entire areas by calling upon a tsunami.

Lighting tends to be Storm's favorite weapon, as she can call it down from the sky at any given time to shock her opponents into submission.

Storm is also a natural leader and tends to bring out the best in other's powers. This matched with her cunning make her exceptionally strong.

3 X-23

How do you top Hugh Jackman's Wolverine? Well, it may be impossible but X-23, AKA Laura Kinney, comes close. After all, she is basically a much younger, female, version of the character. Only X-23 also has claws that come out of her feet, replicating how a lioness attacks her prey.

More importantly, X-23 has the incredible healing ability that Wolverine has. This mutant power makes her one of the most invincible characters in the Marvel world.

We've seen x-23 in action in the gritty Logan. Hopefully, we get to see her in action again in her very own spin-off/Logan continuation.

2 Captain Marvel

As we'll find out in the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, Captain Carol Danvers gained her awe-inspiring abilities when caught in a blast of radioactive energy. This gave her the power to absorb energy and project it at will, as well as create beams of light and heat. She can also fly and has enhanced physical strength and durability.

Captain Marvel also has a cosmic awareness, not dissimilar from the Spidey Sense, that allows her to sense trouble long before it arrives. This usually gives her a one-up on her opponents. We should all be excited for when she finally makes her big-screen debut in early 2019.

1 Nemesis

The best way to bring this list to a close is the inclusion of an all-out villain such as Nemesis. This character is the result of bringing the six Infinity Stones together with the lost "Seventh Gem". Bringing these seven incredibly powerful objects together created this sentient being.

Nemesis has all of the powers of the Infinity Stones, except she has them on a greater level due to the presence of the "Seventh Gem". So, just imagine the power of Thanos from Infinity War and times that by two or three.

Without a doubt, this Marvel character is not only one of the strongest female characters but is also one of the most powerful creations of all time.
