A new featurette for upcoming sequel Creed II explores the bad blood between Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) and Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), more than three decades after Apollo Creed was killed in the ring. Directed by Steven Caple Jr., Creed II picks up some time after the events of Creed, with Adonis now facing the responsibilities of raising his own son with his girlfriend, Bianca (Tessa Thompson).
The grudges between the four men are complicated. Adonis naturally wants revenge against Ivan for the death of his father, and is willing to get his revenge in the ring with Viktor. Meanwhile, Ivan's defeat by Rocky effectively ruined his life, turning him into a figure of shame and disgrace in Soviet Russia and leaving him permanently damaged. Ivan passed that anger and resentment down to his son, Viktor, who is now ready to take it out in the ring with Adonis.

A new featurette, titled "Sins of Our Fathers," explores these handed-down blood feuds and revisits the events of Rocky IV, in which Ivan Drago killed Apollo Creed and was then defeated by Rocky in a devastating knockout. The featurette makes it clear just how high the stakes are: both fighters are determined to defeat their opponent, and there is a serious danger that Adonis could end up being killed in the same way his father was. Meanwhile, Ivan's long-simmering anger at Rocky could well end up boiling over outside of the ring.
Of course, the big question - and one that will surely be addressed in the film - is whether Adonis is doing the right thing by going up against Viktor, and risking leaving his own son without a father. After all, regardless of the outcome of the match, nothing that the four men have lost will ever be returned to them. All that said, it's hard to resist the excitement of a Drago/Creed rematch - even if it has been passed down one generation.
Ryan Coogler's Creed is a tough act to follow. The part-sequel, part-reboot of the Rocky franchise saw a passing of the torch from Rocky to Adonis, and delivered hard-hitting and dynamic fight scenes that left audiences breathless. The fact that the stakes are lot more personal this time around will surely only intensify things, and while it might seem inevitable that Adonis will emerge the victor, that's not always how things work out in the Rocky movies.
