Paramount Pictures commemorates Henry Cavill's Mission: Impossible - Fallout mustache by making a donation to Movember. Never in the history of cinema have people obsessed over a piece of facial hair. Most know the story by now; Cavill grew the notorious mustache for Fallout after wrapping his role in Justice League. When it was determined DC's superhero team-up needed extensive reshoots, Cavill was called upon to play Superman again. Paramount blocked the actor from shaving his upper lip, so Warner Bros. opted to digitally remove it. The results will forever live in infamy, serving as a microcosm of what went wrong with Justice League.
In the aftermath, WB had to lick their wounds and watch Justice League become the lowest-grossing installment in the burgeoning DC Extended Universe. Paramount, on the other hand, was much more fortunate. Fallout earned widespread critical praise (some rank it among the best action films of all-time) and made $791 million at the worldwide box office (a franchise best by nearly $100 million). With Mission: Impossible gearing up for its home media release, Paramount is keeping Cavill's mustache in the spotlight in a cool way.

On Twitter, the official Mission: Impossible page announced Paramount made a donation to Movember, a charity that supports men's health. The post included a rather humorous video consisting of stills of the mustache with emotional music. Check it out in the space below:
The mustache really took on a life of its own, and Cavill found amusement in the amount of controversy it stirred up. Earlier this year, he made an event out of shaving it off, with a social media video that doubled as an in memoriam tribute. To their credit, both Cavill and Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie expressed a willingness to do away with the mustache to make life easier for the Justice League team, but Paramount nixed any compromise between the various parties. It was an unfortunate situation for sure, but it would be foolish to suggest the mustache is what did Justice League in. There were plenty of other issues with the comic book adaptation, though there's no denying the mustache became an easy target. As the hashtag in Paramount's video says, it'll never be forgotten.
As ridiculous and overblown concerns over the mustache were, it's nice to see that it's now being used to raise funds and awareness for a good cause. Movember supports numerous causes, such as prostate and testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. Hopefully, Paramount's donation encourages others to give money during the holiday season and make a difference in others' lives.
