Mark Wahlberg partners with Jason Blum for The Stolen Kids of Sarah Lawrence
The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that Mark Wahlberg (Instant Family) is teaming up with indie genre darling Jason Blum (Us) to adapt the highly talked-about New York magazine The Stolen Kids of Sarah Lawrence.

The article, written by Ezra Marcus and James D. Walsh, told the story of young men and women at the liberal arts college Sarah Lawrence as they were charmed by Larry Ray, the manipulative father of one of their classmates, who moved into the dorm with his daughter following his release from prison. He treated the group to home-cooked steak dinners and beguiled them with stories of his time as a Marine and as a CIA operative.
However, his time in the dorm expands from a temporary stop until finding a place to controlling the kid’s lives and bringing them to a private apartment in New York for the summer. During their time together he would turn many of the kids against their parents and even intruded upon the students’ sex lives, both physically and mentally, and proved to be very abusive towards the group. However, the majority still praised him in court cases as helping turn their lives around. A few students were reported to have escaped his mental clutches and are working on repairing the damage done by Ray.
Blum’s blockbuster studio Blumhouse Productions quickly but quietly acquired the rights to the article following its April 28 publication and Wahlberg will team with Steven Levinson to produce the project through their banner Closest to the Hole, however it has not been confirmed whether Blumhouse will develop the project as a television series or as a film as sources are reporting the studio sees potential as both.

Wahlberg’s Closest to the Hole was behind the surprise family hit Instant Family and the poorly-received action-thriller Mile 22, both of which the 47-year-old actor starred in, and is currently attached to produce the upcoming mystery film Wonderland and drama Good Joe Bell. Blumhouse is known for bringing audiences the widely successful Insidious, Purge and Paranormal Activity franchises, as well as the acclaimed horror-thrillers Get Out and Us, the former of which was nominated for four Oscars and won one and the latter of which grossed over $250 million at the global box office.
