From things like motherhood, religion, and gun control, the ladies at Scarlet hold nothing back. With that being said that leads to a lot of mixed reviews when it comes to episode ratings. It could be rated low because an episode feels too tense, awkward, or any other reason under the sun. So let's dive in and see where each season 2 episode lands.

10 Worst: The Domino Effect- 8.0

Uncomfortable is the word that best describes the majority of the episode. In the process of getting to know Adena’s friends better, Kat ends up making out with another woman at the club. Meanwhile, Sutton is tasked to dress her ex’s current girlfriend.

On a happier note, Jane finds out that the article she wrote on Jacqueline is nominated for an award and is hired back at Scarlet after searching for weeks. Because of the nomination, she is asked to write a follow-up piece. In her research, she finds out that there are more women who were assaulted by the same man.

9 Best: Stride of Pride- 8.0

Jane is still on the job hunt after being fired from Incite. She interviews and gets rejected for a job that she thinks she's perfect for because they were looking to increase diverse hires. Jane complains about not getting the job because she's white, resulting in a discussion about white privilege between her and Kat.

Outside of that, Kat has the opportunity to hire someone for her social media team. When her potential candidate, Angie, is denied for not having a college degree Kat fights to hire her and eventually changes the company’s policy.

8 Worst: Feminist Army- 7.7

Returning from her trip with Idina, Kat adjust to being back and with her new girlfriend. With this, Kat wants to show her love in the way she knows best, online. Unfortunately, this results in Adena’s frustration because their relationship is still new. Also, there is a new corporate policy that has been instated, which would allow Sutton and Richard to come out and date.

We also see Jane coming into her new job at Incite. She has the opportunity to write her first big piece regarding a feminine hygiene company ran by a female CEO, but the information she finds out about the products changes the angle of the article.

7 Best: Rose Colored Glasses- 8.2

This episode does a great job of tackling the hard topic of race and being biracial. After being named department head of social media, Kat has the honor of writing her own bio for Scarlet’s website.

Through the process of writing, Alex asks if she's going to put the “first black female department head” in her bio. She is forced to acknowledge why race labels make her uncomfortable. In the end, Kat does put it in her bio after speaking with her parents about her foundation and understanding of race growing up.

6 Worst: Plan B- 7.6

One of the main focuses of this episode is Jane’s fertility. She is instructed to start thinking about whether or not she wants to start a family because of her BRCA gene mutation.

Sutton works to manage the fashion department with Oliver away, and Kat is approached by one of the board members, Cleo, to be a spokesperson for a skincare company. She finds out that the CEO donates to conservative and anti-lgbtq+ organizations. Feeling used, she decided to fight back and get out of her contract.

5 Best: The Scarlet Letter- 8.2

This episode focuses on the body positivity issue of Scarlet magazine. We see the editor and chief, Jacqueline, fight to have important articles that challenge the status quo in the issue. Due to the constant push back from the board, she ends up writing a letter to the editor in place of said article.

On the more visual side, we see Sutton in charge of the accessories photoshoot, in which she enlisted Kat’s girlfriend Adena. After going through a few growing pains, they come up with a concept in which the accessories were accentuated by beautiful, untouched, and real bodies of the girls.

4 Worst: OMG- 7.7

In the fourth episode, we see Sutton working to become friends with a well-connected influencer named Brooke, while Kat tries to feel more a part of Adena's world by meeting her friends.

Outside of that, a heavy focus of this episode is on Jane finding out that her current boyfriend is religious. In the episode, we see her struggle to come to terms with it. In the end, we find out her reluctance in belief comes from losing her mom. After praying that her mom would get better, and nothing ever happened, Jane started to believe that faith is unrealistic.

3 Best: We'll Always Have Paris- 8.1

In the season finale, we see a select few of the Scarlet team, including Sutton and Kat, head to Paris for fashion week. In Paris, Sutton gets to live out her fashion dreams, while Kat’s relationship slowly fades into a nightmare. After finding out that Adena does not feel inspired to work on her photography because of their relationship, Kat doesn’t know where they stand and how they can move forward. Back in New York, Jane is dealing with the fact that her insurance does not cover freezing her eggs. In the end, Jane decides to take matters into her own hands by writing about it.

In the end, all three girls end up in Paris, courtsey of Kat’s frequent flyer miles. And with the season coming to close, we see Richard and Sutton reunite, Jane realizes who she wants to be with, and Kat is left confused regarding her relationship with Adena.

2 Worst: Betsey- 6.9

There is no surprise that the episode focusing on guns is the lowest rated episode of the season. Early in the episode, Jane finds out that Sutton keeps a shotgun, named Betsy, in their apartment, resulting in an ongoing dispute between the two.

Throughout the episode, we see multiple perspectives on the topic. Jane and Kat even try skeet shooting with Sutton to see how safe it is. In the end, Jane’s perspective does not change, no matter how hard she tries, but Sutton comes around and ends up recycling Betsy. For some, this episode did not sit well because it doesn't address current issues, and it makes the issues seem simple.

1 Best: Trippin'- 8.4

Getting to see where characters grew up is always a treat to audiences, and this episode was no exception. Sutton, Kat, and Jane head on a road trip to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to get the original copy of her birth certificate. Throughout their time, the audience get to see her childhood home, hangouts, and even meet her mom.

Seeing where our favorite fashion assistant came from gives more insight to the character and more understanding of how she became the woman she is.
