The Big Bang Theory: 10 Funniest Quotes About Love | ScreenRant

When The Big Bang Theory started out way back in 2007, nobody could’ve foreseen it becoming one of the more romantic shows in history. And yet, that’s exactly what it became by the end of its run as we saw many couples get together, but the theme of love between family and friends arrived as well.

In this list, we haven’t only taken romantic love into consideration, and have taken all types of love into account. We also haven’t limited to quotes strictly containing the word “love” in it, and have chosen those that communicate about love when taken into context. This also means you’ll have to read thoroughly to understand the meaning behind these words, so here are the funniest quotes about love on The Big Bang Theory.

10 "I Feel The Same Way About You...Now Put Your Glasses Back On. You Look Weird."

Sheldon’s plan of understanding human emotions by getting a machine that told him what people were feeling didn’t go as planned. It ended up causing a fight between Leonard and Penny, making Sheldon depressed that whatever he did, he could never understand emotions.

Once Amy raised his spirits by telling him she loved him however he was, an appreciative Sheldon had this to say. It’s hilarious, though, that while he did confirm to Amy that he loved her unconditionally, he immediately put in a condition that she had to wear glasses because she looked weird otherwise.

9 "Are You Saying You're Just A Boy, Standing In Front Of Another Boy, Saying You Don't Want Him To Leave?"

Those who’ve watched Notting Hill will no doubt be well aware of the famous final declaration of love from Julia Roberts’ character asking Hugh Grant to love her. For Raj, there could be no greater moment of love than when a rom-com scene was played out.

He got just that when Howard chased him down at the airport to stop him from going to England. Since he needed confirmation that love exists for him in Pasadena, he asked Howard if this moment was his declaration of love. Although Howard was clearly weirded out, he did confirm Raj’s sentiment and admitted his platonic love. If that's not true friendship romance then what else could be?

8 "I Feel Very Comfortable Around You. It's Surprising Because I Generally Don't Feel Comfortable Around...Well, Anyone."

There’s no doubt that, while he loved his own mother more than anybody else, Sheldon also did have loving feelings for Leonard’s mother. The two were more similar than Leonard ever was with her, which led to them having a very pleasant relationship.

Sheldon eventually realized that his affection toward Beverly Hofstadter wasn’t simply professional respect, and admitted out loud how he felt very comfortable around her. You just know Sheldon really does love you when he confesses his comfort, considering that he never felt that around anybody else.

7 "Ha-Ha. You Married An Old Man."

Penny started out on the show being barely 21-years-old, so it’s understandable why it was such an adjustment for her to become older. Lucky for her, she had a husband who loved her regardless of her age or appearance.

When she voiced frustration at getting older, Penny also pointed out that Leonard was much closer to turning 40 than her. To this, Leonard found a positive by turning it on Penny that she still married him even though he was “an old man.” This was a reconfirmation that Leonard and Penny’s love had evolved from their formerly petty break-ups, even though it came in a funny package.

6 "How Could Any Women Spend 8 Hours A Day With This Face And Not Fall In Love With It?"

Considering the expressions Sheldon makes has garnered him comments about looking like a Praying Mantis, there’s no doubt that he isn’t exactly the poster figure for attractiveness. For Amy, though, there could be no other man as beautiful.

However, Penny was the last person she could’ve shown a picture of Sheldon to, as her reaction was far from the same Amy had. Although it was funny how blindly in love Amy was, we still find it cute how unconditional her love for Sheldon was.

5 "The Salesman Said It Could Survive A Plane Crash, So...Perhaps You Should Fly Inside It."

Sheldon can be very hurtful at times, more so toward Amy since she puts up with him the most. But what’s important to remember is that a lot of the times his intentions are to show his love rather than be antagonistic.

Here, we saw how innocently insensitive he could when trying to be considerate. After Leonard pointed out to him that he wasn’t a loving and supportive boyfriend, Sheldon went out to prove he was by purchasing luggage that could survive a crash. He was so enthusiastic in proving his love that he asked Amy to travel in the luggage in order to credit him with her survival.

4 (Bernadette): "I Love That Man." (Raj): "...Me Too..."

It became more of a trio than a marriage for Howard and Bernadette when Raj took to hanging around them so much. At the time when the wedding took place, Raj seemed to consider Howard as something of his own spouse.

Due to this, he had the exact same reaction as Howard’s actual spouse when he was going to space. Overwhelmed by the danger Howard might’ve been in, Bernadette professed her love for him out loud, something that Raj had no problem in saying himself despite not being married to Howard.

3 "I Don't See Anyone Else Banging On This Door To Put Up With Your Nonsense."

If you’re confused about how this quote pertains to love, then let us inform you that Sheldon had been there to win Amy back and this was his way of sharing his love. Sure, it came out more hostile than anything else, but Sheldon did mean well.

Of course, since he also ended up insulting Amy, this quote falls under the funny category rather than the emotional one. To be fair, he did have a point in saying this to her, seeing as Sheldon went the extra mile to win her back by coming all the way to her house. It’s not like anyone else was there except for him.

2 "I Promise Next Time I Get Married It Won't Be A Joke. It Will Be For Love...Or Money."

Penny’s had so many things to do with love that she even has a quote where she’s joking about it. After she found out she was married to Zack for years without realizing it, she set out to end the marriage to please Leonard.

Once it was dissolved, Penny continued having a humorous reaction to it compared to Leonard’s appalled response. In order to mess with him more, and maybe even think a little out loud, Penny admitted she would get married again only if it meant something. That something apparently even had money as a valid motive.

1 "People Say You Can't Live Without Love...I Think Oxygen Is More Important."

Leave it up to Sheldon to ruin the mood when it comes to the matters of love, but the person he was before he met Amy was someone you could easily understand saying this. That man was more literal in his beliefs and hit us with this very real one.

Someone so deep into thinking about the science of things was always going to consider oxygen as the most important for life, although he splashed mud on the concept of love in the process. Then again, at least this quote will help those going through a break-up cope better, seeing as they have enough oxygen to go around. So, thanks for raising our spirits up, Sheldon!
