Once Amy raised his spirits by telling him she loved him however he was, an appreciative Sheldon had this to say. It’s hilarious, though, that while he did confirm to Amy that he loved her unconditionally, he immediately put in a condition that she had to wear glasses because she looked weird otherwise.

Sheldon can be very hurtful at times, more so toward Amy since she puts up with him the most. But what’s important to remember is that a lot of the times his intentions are to show his love rather than be antagonistic.
Here, we saw how innocently insensitive he could when trying to be considerate. After Leonard pointed out to him that he wasn’t a loving and supportive boyfriend, Sheldon went out to prove he was by purchasing luggage that could survive a crash. Penny’s had so many things to do with love that she even has a quote where she’s joking about it. After she found out she was married to Zack for years without realizing it, she set out to end the marriage to please Leonard.
Once it was dissolved, Penny continued having a humorous reaction to it compared to Leonard’s appalled response. In order to mess with him more, and maybe even think a little out loud, Penny admitted she would get married again only if it meant something. That something apparently even had money as a valid motive.

Leave it up to Sheldon to ruin the mood when it comes to the matters of love, but the person he was before he met Amy was someone you could easily understand saying this. That man was more literal in his beliefs and hit us with this very real one.
Someone so deep into thinking about the science of things was always going to consider oxygen as the most important for life, although he splashed mud on the concept of love in the process.
